I went in, to pick out my own package's, so I could check the expiration date's, before buying them, along with the size's, if it was a relatively new crop(Between 1-5yrs), or older batch(Older than 5yrs with growing), as the stem's start out super thin, then grow wider, with age of how long they have been growing them. I used to do agriculture work for a doctor, that had a raised garden bed, with nothing but Asparagus growing in it. And, every year, they grew fatter & fatter. Now, to remove ALL of the bitter straw-like texture(Which, how old it is, from when it was first cut, can be told, with how much of that area, there is), you take your thumb & forefinger, of one hand, and grab about 1/2-2/3rd's up from the cut end, and then grab the cut end, and start to bow/bend it, and the cut end that snap's off, is the old bitter straw-like texture, that you don't want to keep. And, this method also eliminate's the need to use a knife to cut them, at all, unless you are cutting them into bite-sized pieces, of course. I always steam them, in our Asparagus steamer pot, and melt some butter, along with some minced garlic, Basil(Sweet), Crushed Rosemary & Oregano in the melted butter, and pour it over the steamed Asparagus in a serving bowl, with a light sprinkle of coarse ground Sea Salt on it.

These asparagus are an amazing deal! They aren’t super thin and they are as fresh as they come. Absolutely delicious. You get 2lbs for less than you can get a small bunch at my local store. I checked. Will continue to pick these up for an amazing addition to my home cooked meals.

I have purchased numerous packages of asparagus and was normally very satisfied. I ordered asparagus through the pick up option. The tips were mushy. Well past being fresh. Notified customer support and was told I'd receive an e-coupon to make up for it within 48 hours. It's been a week and I don't have the coupon.

Asparagus was expired and moldy on the inside of package. Obviously not rotated in some time. Called the store and the girl said sorry about that....really? My watermelon was two days from expiring. This is a bulk store so perhaps selling things with a further out date such as week would be beneficial!

This store frequently has produce out that is past it's freshness date. Both in-store and delivery purchases are a gamble as to whether the product will last a day or once opened if half the contents are rotten. Today in a delivery, the asparagus was rotten, the second layer of the basket of blackberries were covered in white fuzz and three of the bagged yams were rotten. This store is no longer one I will patronize.

Ordered online and picked up. I was shocked that this was sold rather than thrown out. The entire bag was yellow. The tops were mushy and disintegrating. The stalks were horribly wrinkled. I took pictures and tossed the entire bag. This Sams produce made the store next door look fresh. th

The asperagus is of very high quality,but the price should be a lot lower.

While putting asparagus in the refrigerator after shopping at Sam’s, noticed liquid in the bag. The asparagus was very mushy and old.

We love fresh asparagas. Picked up a package of this asparagas and will never make the same mistake again. It looked fresh. I have no idea why it was so tough. We couldn't chew through it.

I bought this on Saturday, threw it out spoiled in the package on Tuesday. I'm tired of buying produce at Sam's to take it home and give it a decent burial.
