[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] SimpliSafe has addressed a lot of problems that has prevented us from getting a security system in the past. First, it's insanely quick and painless to set up with the app; I'd say even someone technologically challenged could do it with no issues. And if you don't like installing extra apps, you can complete setup using the keypad (though the app is a little more fluid). I think I had all devices connected and set up in under 30 minutes. Second (and most important for me) is that NO wiring or electrical is needed to install. Each item is powered by batteries, and camera batteries can be taken out and recharged once low. We have an old 1960 house with very limited electrical capabilities and access. Adding power for cameras or a whole system would be a huge undertaking, if not impossible. To further simplify installation: if you don't want to use tools and screws to install, just use the command strips included! Perfect for rentals or apartments (camera mounts do need to be installed with the screws however). Design of all items (and even the packaging) is sleek, modern, and simplistic. They won't be an eyesore in your home. I have been using my system without a monitoring subscription and have been happy with the range of functionality without it, though subscriptions are only month to month, which makes it easy to add or remove as your needs change. I can view live feed of my cameras any time I want, and there is two way communication available through the camera. I get notifications to my phone when the cameras detect movement (btw the camera's video quality and range of view seem great to me, not being a camera expert by any means) but the only shortcoming is that there is absolutely no recording option without a subscription. The camera holds no footage, so you can only ever view live feed. I know there are at least a couple of brands that do allow a few hours of recorded footage before deleting it from the cloud. This would be the only complaint I have, and the only con that might lead me to look at other brands. Other than that, the ease and simplicity of set up/installation makes this a more accessible product than your traditional security systems that require a professional installer. No need for electricity provides more flexibility in where you can place certain items that might otherwise be tricky. With a monitoring service this system has just about everything you could want. Without, you lack the ability to record video (it's only downfall, IMO). Overall, a fantastic system.

This system certainly shows the fit and finish of company that has been refining their product over 15 years. I'd liken them to the Apple of alarm system products. My system in my old house was a DIY kit, but it was built from a legacy company that dominated in company owned, wired systems and moved into this space. It was a fine system, but you can tell this was built from the ground up with wireless and DIY in mind. This system package has a heavy focus on outdoor security with 2 outdoor cameras. We have always had 2 cameras on our home, whether it be one on each front corner or one in back, one in front. I will say that, if you can accommodate wired cameras, they will be faster and more reliable, but if you have no other choice but wireless, this is as good as they come and with a company like Simplisafe, you can count on support and firmware updates to work out any bugs. Just be sure you have a strong wireless signal where these will be placed. System setup is very simple and done using the keypad where you can identify where each piece is being located. They offer several monitoring options from self to full service and its competitive with what I was paying with my other DIY company. I've found that you can make up the cost of a DIY system in under 2 years versus a "free" system and high monitoring cost, so if you plan on having it long term, this is the way to go. A final added benefit of Simplisafe is that they offer a wide range of products so you don't have to mix and match brands to get everything you need, like I had to do on my previous system. You can add on a doorbell camera, a smart lock and a variety of smoke, carbon monoxide, water and temperature sensors. Very happy with the setup and functionality of this system and would recommend to friends and family. In fact, both of my brother-in-laws have Simplisafe systems and are happy with them too!

While I've had no problems at the lake, I feel much safer with the new outdoor security system. I especially like the outdoor security cameras that shine a spotlight when someone approaches the house. Let's hope this security system isn't needed (but the added protection is nice).

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this system a little over a month ago and it took me a minute to install cause I had gotten sick and didn't want to deal with it. Upon installation I realized that was silly because it one of the easiest things I've ever installed. Just charged up the cameras and screwed them in desired locations, screwed the door alarms on. Everything was so simple! To top it off the security cameras are great! I feel like I'm filming through my cell phone! Gonna purchase the door bell camera next!

If you're looking for a quality, do it yourself system, seriously consider this one. It's wireless, and gives you full color vision at night. You can easily monitor your home from anywhere with your mobile device.

The outdoor cameras give a clear imagine to make sure anyone would be caught stealing or breaking into my home. Also love that this security system came with door/window sensors to know when they are opened, not only good for break ins but great to know when kids are opening windows/doors. Only wish this came with more door sensors but luckily they are able to be purchased separately :)

I usually have my techy husband set stuff up like this , but I decided to give it a try. I was amazed at how simple and effortless it was to set it up. it even can in handy about a month ago when someone was trying to break into our car. The picture quality is so clear that I was able to pull up the video for the the police to review and he was able to get a clear image of the robber. I love that I can check my cameras from anywhere through my cell phone and not have worry about my home when I'm away. Especially when I'm out of town. It give us peace of mind. The Simplisafe

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like the system and setup isn't too complicated at all. The plans are comparable to other systems with protection and monitoring. I like the mobility of the wireless cameras but I don't love the idea of recharging them once it's time. They need to be out of reach to avoid someone disabling, so maybe their best use is for indoors as opposed to out. Overall seems to be a good system.

All you do is stick the sensors and cameras up on the wall or door/window, and link everything to the base station. I had been avoiding getting a security system due to the hassle, but with small kids in the house it has become increasingly important that we get one. Simplisafe wasn't intimidating or difficult to install at all, and so far the system is easy and intuitive to use each day.
