I've actually been using this for a while. We're not noticing any sort of 'bad' smell. Okay, I get a bit sneezy and notice a 'Frebreeze' smell when I dump a box of clean litter into the cat box. Like that's abnormal? :) But, I have asked friends for an HONEST answer if like the basement smells and how bad, mentioning that I can't fix whatI don't know is broke, and since I'm desensitized to it. Well kids, friends of my kids definitely didn't have a problem because I wanted 'honest.' A few said occasionally they'd get a whiff, but it wasn't all that unpleasant either. So I'm thinking it's pretty good. I do have three cats, one cat box. Of course some of the smell comes from canned cat food, which mine don't get. But it's all I buy now.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using this litter since this version came out. I absolutely love that it covers the odors and keeps the house smelling fresh and clean! The only part I dislike, but it seems to go with any litter, is that it gets tracked everywhere.

I have been using Fresh Step for a while because it has always clumped well and it's easy to keep the box cleaner (no crumbly bits). I was a bit skeptical to try the Febreze Fresh Step since typically choose the least scented variety available. I was pleasantly surprised that the scent is not overpowering at all, and definitely not 'perfume-y'. As with most clumping cat litters, it is a bit dusty, so take caution when pouring it straight from the box at any height. I avoid a lot of the extra dust by pouring the litter from the box into a small pail in the garage or outside - dust issue solved! Once in the small bucket, it's easy for me to carry around, and I use a small pet food scoop (one that's dedicated only to clean litter!) and scoop the needed amount from the bucket into the cat box.

This product works better than what I started out with, but I still have a bad smell whenever something fresh is in there. I think this is less about the product and more about my cats as they seem to forget to cover up their feces so the litter probably doesn't work as best as it can. Whenever we catch it, we try to cover it up ourselves and the smell seems to disappear quickly. A good sign that it works like it should.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I would not buy anything else. It keeps the dust down. Not near as much as other brands my husband brought home. I sent it up to some other cat owners who are not as fussy as I am. And sent him out to get the Good Stuff.

We've given this new litter about 2 months of trial run. It was great at first. The house never smelled nasty. We clean the litter box religiously every night. Unfortunately, we started noticing that every member of our family, including the cats, started having respiratory issues. The dust that comes off this litter was terrible. We'd like our old multi cat litter back please... We have hunted for the old one everywhere, but they are no longer being sold...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using this litter for a few months and am very happy with it. My cat likes to make a huge mess tracking litter everywhere when he jumps out of the letterbox but this product seems to be the best so far at controlling it.

I live on the third floor with 2 cats. Not one person has ever noticed my cat litter box.-ever! I scoop only once a day and Fresh Step does a great job!!! I have had my cats for 15 years and have never changed my litter to another brand because I am so happy and most of all my cats are happy too!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have two cats, I find the formula still to be a little dusty. I'm used to the regular multi-cat, which works well. But hey, we all love febreze! What not try something new?! It's a good odor eliminator, may repurchase.

This product throws a ton of dust. It seems like adding febreeze made it even dustier. My poor cats couldn't use the litter box without sneezing. Refilling the box made it very difficult for anyone to breathe. The addition of febreeze to everything was the catalyst necessary to finally quit clay litters for good. Thanks Fresh Step!
