[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received Fresh Step Odor Shield cat litter to test and review. The most telling thing about this litter is that my cat, who is usually sensitive to change, didn’t mind this litter! It don’t upset him in any way and he continued to use his litter box like normal. The litter did exactly what it claimed to do: it clumped well and made sifting easy. It also trapped odors well; we never smelled foul odors while testing this litter. Fresh Step Odor Shield is a good cat litter that makes maintaining your cat’s litter box easy and provides solid odor control. We give it two paws up… recommend!

Convenient packaged amount to refill litter tray, unless you have a white female cat from the shelter with a proven history of dumping elsewhere on the Persian rugs in retaliation for the new addition to the family!

Sam's store did not have any. Bought it on line from Sam's and was charged $6 s/h even though I am a plus member at Sam's. Seems rather unfair to the Sam's member to be penalized when the store dosen't have the product.

I tried EVERY other brand out there and have ALWAYS come back to FRESH STEP! I have multiple cats and the EXTREME works WONDERFULLY!!! Stop using anything else but FRESH STEP!!!

It's disturbing that Sam's has increased their prices so much. In addition it's amazing that Sam's think we're so stupid as to not notice that not only cat litter but paper towels, toilet tissue, along with many other items have been reduced in the amount you get and then with price increases you're basically paying more for 1/3 less product! Nice Sam's, thanks for helping your customers by increasing prices and reducing the amount of product we get. I had a paper towel roll in my shed from a year ago and just got new shipment of paper towels and comparing the two the new rolls are 20%-25% smaller and more money!

I'm pretty sure that if I opened all four bags, and dumped them into a 35 gallon bucket, it would not reach the same level of cat litter as the brand I had been buying.I feel like I'm getting cheated. The litter itself is very heavy, like sand. I was curious why each bag felt so heavy, when they are as big as a 5 lb. bag of sugar, which is light in comparison. I don't know the reason. Scooping out the clumps is hard at the bottom of the litter box. You'll need a hard plastic spatula or a metal scraper. Some clumps stay together, some break apart. The perfume is too strong, but that fades away during and after use. The heavy perfume doesn't prevent the cats from using the litterbox, but they'd probably be more comfortable with the unscented. The litter feels heavy during scooping, also. I'm not a fan of heavy cat litter, but it probably is soft and easier for the cats' feet, rather than the granules.

The formula changed from a year ago maybe more. Now, it's so dusty, just looking at it you can tell it's basically sand with some bigger "pellets" in. It's too fine. Instead of making firm balls like it used to, now it's more like a sticky sludge. I kept using it in case it was just a bad batch, but at this point it's safe to say this litter formula is there to stay. I will be changing brands. The litter room is so dusty. If you don't have a dedicated litter box room, don't use this unless you like a thin coat of dust over everything in that room. The other unscented Fresh Step is the same, so don't bother with that one either.

I’m not nose blind so I’m very picky about litter. It was a good deal and I figured I would try to stronger “multi-cat” even though I only have 1 cat. I am diligent about keeping it clean and do a complete replacement every Wednesday. By Sunday I had to open the windows to air out the smell it was so bad. I doctored it up with extra odor additives to survive until the dump on Wednesday but I will never use this brand again. There was so much sticky clay I had to clean off the scooper after each use too. I’m fully aware that I am on the more OCD end of cat owners but this was a complete waste of my money. I didn’t use the rest of it and won’t even donate it to a shelter, it’s that bad. I’m going back to my brand and will not be buying any version of this brand again since this was supposed to be the best they had to offer.

This product is a waste of mo ey it is not what it says it is. It only stays wet all the time and the cat urine just get strong by the minute and also gets heavier by the minute.
