Nice product but takes time to build

The item come in 4 160lb boxes so you need 2 people to move them at least. Building does take 20+ hours. The directions are overall good but some parts I had to skip over and come back to because they did not make sense or seemed to be missing information. Once built... it is a nice piece. It does need sealed right away because the wood is very soft.

happy daddy

We searched and searched for a playset for our three girls and once we found the Skyfort we were shocked at the price and quality compared to everything else. Stop your search right now and buy the Skyfort! Its a long process to assemble but well worth it...and it helps that the instructions are detailed, but not complicated. By the way, the same playset is sold online by Cabellas....but $500 MORE in price!!! GO SC!!!

Works for big kids too

I purchased this after months of researching trying to find a playset that my oldest child could also enjoy. She is 9 but big for her age (4'9”), and it took a lot of time to find a set that would work for all 5 of our kids (ages 1, 4, 7, 7, 9). This does take time to put together. With my husband and I working hard, and kids finding the wood parts for us, it took about 20 hours of work. We were very impressed with the quality of the hardware. Once it is put together it is very sturdy. Two of my older kids can be swinging high on the swings and the entire set stays still and doesn't move at all. This also works well for older kids or taller kids. They will have to duck through the occasional doorway, but most of the areas work great for them. My husband and I (5'11” and 6'3”) could both stand up straight together in the upstairs clubhouse while we were putting the roof on. Overall very happy with the quality for the price

Satisfied

For the most part we are very satisified with the timeliness of the delivery, the quality of the product and the assembly directions. What we were not happy with was some of the missing screws that we had to replace on our own. In one instance I was told at Lowe's that these are specialty screws, bolts, etc. made specifially for the play set so we had to improvise. That was a hassle.

Awesome design and features!

I bought this playset last month and kids are loving it. It took 3 full days for a handyman to assemble it. This model has cool features like picnic table, watch tower and monkey bar. My 11 and 8 year old kids are enjoying their summer break by hanging out with their friends many hours a day in this playset. I wish the main wood columns are bit wider since they take multiple nuts and bolts on them and can easily get damaged during the assembly.

Attractive playset - Time consuming to assemble

After doing a lot of research, this playset seemed to be the best value. The freight company called several days in advance to schedule delivery. We live in the country, well off the road, and they were able to unload the 4 large boxes right into my garage. My husband and I assembled the set in pieces in our large garage and then transported the assembled pieces to the location we picked out in our yard for final assembly. We were able to even assemble the fort in the garage - all except for the roof - as we have 10 foot doors. We then loaded the fort on a utility trailer hooked up to our pickup for roof assembly and transport to our yard. This worked very well as we were able to assemble inside over several evenings and a Saturday and were out of the spring rain. It was also helpful to assemble on the level garage floor. We followed other posters' advice in sorting and doing inventory of the pieces and this saved time later. When we were ready to do final assembly, we just loaded the other completed pieces (slide, rock wall, ladder, monkey bars, etc.) in the trailer as well. The instructions could have been better - many times they were not clear on the orientation of the holes in each individual piece, and this made it necessary to tear apart and reassemble several steps later. All the parts were present in the 4 large boxes and we had quite a few pieces of hardware left over. Our 2 grandsons, ages 2 and 4, LOVE it, so the aggravation of assembly was worth it. I would estimate the appropriate age level at 2 -10. The 2 year old can even get into the crows nest, but he has his older brother to show him how. I'm sure I won't like staining/sealing it every year, but it looks great in the yard. My husband is very handy - he built our house - but I can see where this could completely overwhelm someone without some skills. My job was basically to keep 1 step ahead of him and find the next pieces for assembly and the corresponding hardware. There are an unbelievable number of pieces, but it is definitely doable - just don't be in a hurry!

Plans hard to follow

The project is fairly easy to assemble however the plans are difficult to follow. It has many steps where you need to orient boards a certain way but the instructions are unclear on this. Then several steps later you find you put the board on the wrong way and either have to dissamble everything or drill new holes. Also the instructions do not mention squaring or leveling anyplace.

Backyard playset

We looked at many playsets and their reviews. There were good and bad reviews for many, so we took a chance on this one. My husband put it together by himself. It took about 31 hours over a weeks time to build. Before he began building, he organized materials by the steps in the book, which made finding what he needed much easier. He needed my help only a few times. Our children are 11,8, and 4, and so far, they all enjoy it.

Kids love it!

We researched a ton of play sets and this one had everything we were looking for. It will be perfect for our kids for many years. It was quite the task to put together but worth it. It's sturdy, holds up in all sorts of weather, including winter. I highly recommend it.

Great playset

Kids got this for Christmas it is a great playset. Many activities for kids to do. This is our 2nd playset by Backyard Discovery. The first one had the tunnel on top. We do miss the tunnel but the monkey bars on the skyfort are a hit with my 4 yr old daughter. They love the crow's nest and picnic table attached is a hit with both kids! Only reason I gave 4 stars is because personally I fell they should have made the swing beam longer as to where when kids are on all 3 swings they wouldn't be so close to one another swinging. The other playset had more space between the swings. Because you know how kids like to start swinging sideways and then one hits the other and the screaming starts.
