Excellent inexpensive technical product

I purchased this product to show my grandson how the solar system works. I built the product. It was a great use of technic building components to demonstrate the motion of the earth around the sun and the moon around the earth.

missing piece (not sure if it came with set)

the amount of frustration i went through trying to find ONE piece was actually crazy, i stayed up to 1:30 in the morning trying to find this ONE TINY GEAR that was missing. i almost cried myself to sleep and i was so close to finishing it too.

A shining example of Technic perfection!

This set is truly awe inspiring. The painstaking efforts the designer went through to match the real world math really shine through. Perfect set for children of all ages.

Love the mechanics

I love the mechanics of the piece. I do wish the arm that holds the earth and moon was a little more stable or the base a bit larger to support the weight. I had fun putting it together and my son loves the look of it

Missing piece!!

Was building this set and got to the top layer to assemble second orange ring and that piece is missing. Now we have a lego set sitting here unfinished as we can not complete it.

Fun set

Not the most difficult technic set but this was fun. Would love to see an expansion set to this to add even more of the planets or possibly the Hubble telescope or the James Webb telescope

Perfect for fans of space, science, and Technic!

This set was a very fun build and wasn't at all difficult to complete, I don't typically buy Technic sets but always enjoy building them when I do. My set had all plastic bags, no paper as others have reported, which I was a bit bummed about, but that doesn't change my feelings about this. I did have a bit of a struggle getting the earth/moon section attached to the base, but once I was able to line the pieces correctly it was a sinch. Some people have reported a weight issue causing the earth/moon side to be too heavy, but I did not have that issue. I've already used this set to teach my 8yo daughter about how the moon revolves around the earth which revolves around the sun, all at once. She's certainly enjoyed playing with it and asking questions about not just the orbits but also the Technic pieces and how they all work together to create the rotations. It also functions as a great decorative set. Definitely a great set!

Great build!

This was a fun build with lots of complexities due to the movements. We build this using "Build together" instructions and everything came together really well. Once complete, the movement is smooth and seems pretty accurate, and this was a great way to learn about how our earth moves around the sun and what that means.

Really fun build, but complex for young builder.

My son loves it and he's 12. This is one of his first Technic heavy sets and it was a little tough for him. He only missed one gear but the whole set didn't work without it. We fixed it pretty easily, and he loves to watch the sun rotate with the moon. We got it for just before the solar eclipse and he loves that it lined up with a new moon on the calendar.

Like the combination of lego and technic

I really like building this model. It has multiple moving parts at different speeds and was fun to build and see how they did it. If I have one complaint the two halfs of the sun don't fit snugly together and it takes away from the look of the model. Also I removed the hand crank and added a motor/gear assembly and it's really cool to watch it move through years forward and backward without having to crank the handle hundreds of time.
