Dirty salt.

The 44 lb bags of salt at Sams has been dirty and makes the water in the brine tank muddy and looks like sand in it. Went to a co-op and purchased 40 lb bags. The pellets are smoother cut and snow white. Brine tank water returned to crystal clear after 2 bags. Please investgate the problem with your 44 lb bag. I've noticed a lot of complaints. Oh both 44 lb and 40lb bags are Morton

Great price works excellent

Excellent salt product for the price + 4 extra pounds at a lower price than anywhere. Instead of using the salt that removes rust I use the product Red Out and sprinkle about a 1/4 cup between each bag as I put it in I’ve been doing that now for 34 years & still have a reliable water softener by Kenitco. I only wish they would look at 25 pounders for us 76 yo folks.

Morton Salt is filthy.

For several months now I have noticed the salt has changed. The pellets are no longer smooth and white. Now the pellets are larger, not as smooth, and brownish in color. It leaves a film in my salt tank. I know Morton is saying that it is okay, and it won't hurt the system, but I don't trust them. I'm done buying their salt from Sam's Club. I'm surprised with all the complaints that Sam's doesn't address the problem.

Silkiest water you'll ever have.

Purchased this product for our Water Softener. It has done everything and more that the package describes. Our water feels smoother; soap and shampoo lathers up much better; and best of all our spigots will not become stained and require replacement.

Doesn't Work as Advertised!

Bought this for the first time, last week and used it. The water seems worse now than it was initially! It is almost like when they made this item they left out the ingredients needed to soften the water!!!! My water is harder now than I was when I got my first swimsuit catalog as a teenager! This needs to be recalled. Will definitely be asking for my money back.

Used to be good. Quality is now terrible.

I’ve bought this salt for years with no problems. Now the salt appears gray, uncleanly cut and leaves your tank extremely dirty. It appear they are using second run or scrap material for the 44 pound bags. I’ve talked to Morton customer service and even though they’re getting a lot of complaints they won’t admit anything changed.

Something has gone wrong at Morton

I’ve been using this salt for years in our water softeners. Purchased some about 3 months ago. Noticed it was no longer white, but a grayish brown dirty look. Used it thinking maybe a bad run at Morton. Bought again and the same dirty salt. Now I need to empty and clean the brine tank (Not a easy chore from basement) and will no longer be using the Morton Salt. Sam’s needs to check into this quality issue.

Salt is salt, a good price is worth it's salt

I buy it because of the value and the packaging. Morton salt has a strong handle, strong enough to lift the 44 pound bag without breaking. The easy open corner makes it easy to pour without using a knife or scissors. I also like ordering on-line and picking it up at Sam's Club. Half the work is done because Sam's Club loads it on a flat bed cart, and help unload the cart into my Suburban.

Major decrease in packaging quality

These are great for the water softener and well-priced, but the packaging quality has gone down. I've been buying these from Sam's for about ten years, but they have recently changed. Of the last six bags I've purchased, three have had the handles break when picking them up. That has never happened to me before. When I picked up one of the bags, not only did the middle part of the handle snap, the bag tore open next to the handle. Clearly, someone is trying to cut costs on these, but they're no longer standing up to the amount of work it takes to list a 44 lb bag.
