The salt required for a water softener is pretty basic and Morton salt fills the bill at a competitive price in nice packaging with handles. The super luxury of home delivery to the door is wonderful. I have back issues, and home delivery is a beloved luxury.

About 18 months ago we had a full house filtration and water softener installed and it requires salt pellets to maintain the system and soften the water. I shopped various places to purchase salt pellets and Sam's Club has the very best price available. Not only that it is a trusted name brand product and our technician said this product is just fine. It has a guide on how much you should use over time and there are two of us living in a townhouse and under normal water consumption one bag of Morton Clean Protect is lasting about 4 months! Our water is nice and soft comparing to water experience in 5 star hotels! This is a great product and I recommend it for anyone with a water softening system.

This is the only Salt we have used. Great value-and the results are so good. We used to buy directly from the vendor. We switched to the brand, it was easy and the price was so much better.

Morton Clean and Protect Water Softener pellets have worked great in my home softener. The large pellets make it easier to fill the softener, and the bag can be easily opened at a corner, where the edge tears off, creating an ideal way to pour the salt out.

If you have a well and live in an area with hard water, you need a water softener ... AND Morton Softener Pellets are what you need to soften the water and take care of that problem. Softened water means that it's harder to "suds up" in the shower - and when that happens, you just feel like you don't get clean. Bags have holes causing salt to leak out and make a mess in the car. Be careful when selecting the bags. If you do a pickup, then workers are not careful to avoid bags with holes and then they toss the bags into your vehicle getting salt all over the back of your car.

These work, of course. They've been around for decades, so they mush. I only wish they were sold in 25 pound bags rather than 40. (I'm 70) I've solved it by opening the bags on the floor and using a large scoop to dump them into the reservoir until the bag is about 25 pounds and I'm able to lift it up to the rim at about 6' from floor level.

These are great for the water softener and well-priced, but the packaging quality has gone down. I've been buying these from Sam's for about ten years, but they have recently changed. Of the last six bags I've purchased, three have had the handles break when picking them up. That has never happened to me before. When I picked up one of the bags, not only did the middle part of the handle snap, the bag tore open next to the handle. Clearly, someone is trying to cut costs on these, but they're no longer standing up to the amount of work it takes to list a 44 lb bag.

This stuff is trash. The quality significantly declined in the last two years. Was in a hurry and grabbed the same marketed bag from Walmart. Their’s was pure white. Sams stuff is grayish and leaves crud that builds up in the unit. A shame that Morton is marketing this as the same stuff and that Sams is selling an inferior quality product to their members.

Buyer Beware!! This is NOT the same quality as in the past. New, different shaped cubes that are dirty and contaminated. This garbage clogged out softner to the point that I had to have it serviced. This new stuff is GARBAGE!!
