Unhappy customer
This mower has a self propeller that jumps forward too fast. I have no control over smaller areas around trees etc...It's almost too dangerous for me to operate. I am returning it. I need something that goes at my pace where I have more control. Plus the handles you have to hold down are too far apart. It is lightweight and works well but a terrible match for what I need.
Thank you for purchasing the Yard Force 21" Self-Propelled Mower. I am sorry that the mower was not a good match for what you needed. It sounds like a variable speed mower would be a better fit for what you are looking for. We now offer a variable speed version on Sam's Club.com, it is item # 990450375. It will have all the features you like on the mower you have now but with the added control of variable speed drive. We have agents available if you would like to discuss the issues with your current mower or if you would like more information on our variable speed version. Good Value
Good value if you buy it on sale. Then it's the cheapest vertical storage mower available. As far as quality it isn't a Honda or even a Toro but it doesn't cost as much as them either. The biggest issue is that it doesn't handle grass clippings that well. It blows them past the mulching plug, out the closed side discharge door, and out the front top of the rear door when the bag is attached. It also seems to pack grass clippings into the shroud around the drive belt which is probably why the self propel slows and fails so often. It isn't as good a mulcher as the twenty eight year old Craftsman mower it replaced but it is quieter and uses less fuel. The best feature is the vertical storage - it freed up lots of space in my storage shed. It won't last more than a couple of years but for the price paid that's OK.
Thank you for purchasing the Yard Force 21" Self-Propelled Mower. I appreciate you taking the time to write such a detailed review. The feedback you provided is very helpful as we continue to design future mowers and strive to create a best in class product. I agree about the vertical storage feature, it is a great feature that is often overlooked.
.
I bought 2 weeks ago not thrilled with the rear wheel drive self propelled mower . This is a mower for a young in shape person . When buying a self propelled mower front wheel drive is much better unless you like popping wheelies .I am too old and too fat for being drug all over my yard . Not to mention as you are popping wheelies you aren't mowing anything .It does start every time .

Do not buy!
I've tried writing a long explanation but keep getting an error message. Just know that as of today, I've owned this mower 163 days and it's been broken or in the shop for warranty repairs for 63 of them. That's 40% down time. If you plan to buy this, buy 2 so you'll one to use while the other is broken. Better yet, you should probably buy 2 spares.

Engine is junk
Bought this mower and was great for the 1st 3 mowings of the season then started to sputter at EVERY use with increasing frequency and, by the end of summer, simply wouldn't start. Since it was beyond the 90 day warranty for outdoor power equipment, it was no longer covered by Sam's. I was directed to Briggs and Stratton who FULL on refused to honor the warranty (NO KIDDING!) They accused me of using bad gas. I offered to bring the mower in for service and even pay for it if the fix was something not covered. They refused to even look at it!! With Briggs' refusal to look at it, I can only assume they were afraid that there would be a warranty issue. By their refusal, The bottom line is THE ENGINE ON THIS MOWER DOES NOT HAVE A 2 YEAR WARRANTY. I ended up junking the mower. On the upside, my local recycler gave me $3 taking away some of the sting.

Sorry mower
Worst mower I've ever bought. Dive system last one year. Part of the under carriage bent in. Can't find blades. Had to replace the blade adapter and use a different blade. New blade was to long, had to grind down blade about a 1/8 on each end. If the store does not sell blades, don't buy a mower there!!
Really regret buying this
I purchased this for the B&S engine & figured this mower would be just as good as similar brands with the same engine. I was wrong. I hate this mower - the self-propelling gave out after 2 years so now it's a very heavy push mower. My biggest complaint is finding a replacement blade - they're nearly impossible to find. The blade keeper has two oval keeper pegs set at a diagonal - "universal" lawnmower blades will not fit & Yard Force doesn't list any 21" replacement blades on their (poor) vendor site.

Would not buy again
Have had problems with recoil on motor and had to repair it myself as the business they wanted me to take it to was unreasonably out of my way. Now the self-propel is slipping and two businesses refuse to do warranty work on anything from this company.
Hopefully you called our customer service to get connected to an approved service center to ensure you have a better experience. Not all service centers are are willing to service products they did not sell. Please reach out to our customer service team so we can address your concerns and improve our products in the future. Mixed durability
I bought this mower in May of 2020. I bought it mostly on price and had relatively low expectations. The Briggs & Stratton engine was more powerful than I had expected. The engine has also been reliable. I DO change the oil each season - pump it out of the crankcase. The self-propel function failed this summer. The parts to repair it were readily available on line. Changing out a failed transmission ($22!) is a high skill job. I replaced the belt as well. With the possible exception of the engine, the rest of the mower is made with low durability parts. I will be surprised if I get another 3 years of reliable service. I have a medium size city lot.
Best Mower ever for money!
Has a Briggs & Stratton engine that starts very easy. After two years, I change the oil and filter once a year. Sharpen the blade 2 or 3 times a year. My grass grows year around here. I did apply an extra coat of spray paint on deck, because all my other mowers would start rusting after a year or two. It runs and mows and looks like new.
