Good Mower - sticking with gas power for now

I find this a good lawn mower for our 1/2 acre lot with lots of trees and hills. It has enough power, is fairly light, is well thought out and executed, and the self propelled feature is solid. Returned a Greenworks electric mower for it’s for lack of sufficient power for tall/thick grass and probably also for mulching leaves in the fall.

Bought Two

I bought myself one last summer, and it cut my mowing time in half. I bought a second one this year for my son. It is easy to assemble, the power of the self propelled feature, the adjustable wheel height and 12 inch wheels make hills easy to mow. I saw many reviews about the speed of the self propelled being to fast, it does not really adjust, however, adjusting the height of the wheel and depending on the length of the grass, the mower speed did vary a bit. The propelling feature operates separately from the engine it is easy to disengage the power to the drive quickly. Bonus for ordering online from Sam's, with my premium membership, free delivery to a small town not to close to a club.

Satisfied lawn mower customer

Good quality for the price. The speed of the self-propelled rear wheels is good. Only issue I have had is when trying to change directions by pushing down on handle to raise front wheels. You have to disengage the self-propelled rear wheels before pushing down on handle to turn.

Thank you for purchasing the Yard Force 21" Self-Propelled Mower. I am glad you are happy with the performance of your mower. Yes, you do have to disengage the drive when turning a self-propelled mower. But it is worth it the first time you cut thick grass up an incline.

Great for the price

So far not bad. I’ve only mowed three times, so I can’t attest to whether it lasts, but the rear wheel drive makes it much easier on my back. It starts very easily and also goes right through a little taller grass that my older mower would have stalled in. But for issues to follow, I would have given at five stars. First, I wish the RWD moved a little faster and 2nd, the mulch bag is much smaller than my previous mower. It Hass to be emptied way too often. Also, the bag detaches from the bag frame next to the ground. For the price though, I am still giving it a four.

good mower

tires can slip a little bit, the back bag plug is poorly designed - it gets full of clippings every time I mulch. The start bar & the drive bar should have rubber on them as well, as they are small and dig into the wedge between my thumb & forefinger ( blisters w/no gloves). The stand up feature is nice for storage and for cleaning. pretty consistent cut. After using it 2 times, I am ok with it. Just hope it lasts for a couple years. i did buy it on sale, so i don't think I would have bought it at the regular price.

Slow

I have just used it once, mowed my 1/2 acre lot and it took 2 hours, my prebious machine from home depot would do the same job in 1 hr and 15 mins, this self propelled mower is rear wheel propelled, and if i raise the front wheels when i turn it just runs away from me, i have to hold it tight, but when it is mowing in the self propelled mode, it wont go any faster with me pushing, the speed is what it is set at and that makes it slower than the other machine, the cut was good. no other issues so far.

Not happy.

Purchased this mower from Sam's Club online. It was shipped to our home and upon arrival we attepted to assemble it. A quick check of the box contents against the parts list revealed that the lower handle was not present. Three phone calls and three weeks later the missing part finally arrived and the assembly was completed at last. Alas, the handle does not lock into place for mowing, it still moves up and down. Perhaps another missing part we don't know about?

Good not great

Bought on sale and thought it was a great deal. The mower is well built and comes with accessories like a mulch plug and bag that actually work. The one lever wheel adjustment is awesome compared to other mowers where you have to adjust both front and back wheels. The mower has an awesome storage feature that allows you to store the unit upright. The 150cc engine has a lot of power. Unfortunately, after two uses the unit would refuse to start again. The unit does have a warranty, but the shops were booked up and i’d be without a mower for several weeks. I bought a mower to cut grass; not to watch the grass grow. I exchanged it for another one at Sams and unfortunately the 2nd one is exhibiting the same problems. For the record, fresh gas is being used, and the same gas works in the 15 year old mower that this thing was bought to replace. Overall very pleased with mower but not pleased with the “upgraded” 625 exi engine.

Not for me

Very jerky and clumsy to operate. When I would try to rotate on the back wheels for a change in direction it would rear up and accelerate. Very little propulsion going up moderate hills. Holding 3 bars in hand at once is not practical for me. My back hurt the day after I used for an hour, returned it.

This thing is junk.

I ordered this mower online, for home delivery. It was supposed to be delivered in 3 days, but it took over a week. After putting it together, I mowed for about 5 minutes and I shut it down for a couple of minutes to talk to a neighbor, when I tried to re start it, it wouldn't start, after cooling completely down it started again and I finished mowing, I shut the mower off and tried re start it and it wouldn't start, I had to wait for it to cool completely down again before it would start. Needless to say I returned it, Sam's took it back and said that there have been alot of them returned.
