I've used many other smart cams and while I held out a lot of hope/excitement on this one, it's been a terrible experience.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My home security system does not have an exterior camera by the side door, so this is where I installed the battery operated Nest Cam. Setup was quick and easy, once the Google Home App was downloaded. Everything needed to install/mount the camera was included - wall plate, magnetic plate, screws, etc. This location has a strong wifi signal, and the quality of the picture is good - especially during the day; the nighttime picture is not as clear but that is to be expected. I am very satisfied with the Nest Cam. It is heavy, well-made, and weather resistant. I think it will last for quite a while and provide a sense of security.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this camera to use outside my garage to monitor activity in the driveways and to monitor deliveries. It's working great and I love you don't have to plug it in! The setup is easy. My wife was home when it came and she opened it and we both set it up on our phones with the Google home app. It's very self explanatory and we didn't even use the instructions once we downloaded the app. Installing the camera only took me about 5 minutes and that's mainly because I couldn't find my drill. They recommend you place it around 6.5ft high. It has a very strong magnet that keeps it in place and I was shocked at how strong it is. The camera is nice because it alerts you with movement and if it's from a person or animal. It does save 3 hours for free and if you want to scan back to past dates they have very inexpensive subscriptions. Every security camera I have had has never given me any free storage only a live feed. The other feature that I love is you can talk/use the mic on the camera. So if you did catch someone out there who was not supposed to be there you can speak to them/tell them the cops are called etc. We live in the mountains and have bears come up so we will try to scare them off by talking through the mic. The battery lasted me about a month before I had to recharge it. We move a lot so not having to hard wire it makes it easy to take from place to place with only drilling the plate into the wall not worrying about plug-ins. Overall this is a great way to monitor indoor and outdoor. It's water resistant (not waterproof) so make sure it has a little cover. Mine is outdoor and just the little amount of roof cover protects it find. We get a lot snow and it's been perfectly fine.

It comes with instructions for easy wire free installation. You will receive phone alerts to anything going on. These days cameras are definitely needed for safety in this world.

It has a real good battery life even though bring it in the house to charge could become annoying. On the other hand it allowed me to place it where I wanted and I did not have to worry about the power source.

Use it indoors or outside and move it whenever you wish. There are no wires to connect or try to hide. It is battery operated but battery power lasting has not been an issue. 1920 x 1080 Resolution at 30 fps provides a great video even in low light situations. This camera makes my home safer and I highly recommend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really like this camera. It was easy to set up and very easy to install. I love how easy it is remove when I need to charge it. The magnet is very strong and I think it would stay attached during heavy winds. The battery estimate says 7 months!! Wow! It loads very quick when you get an alert. It's awesome you can hear and even speak through the camera. The live video works well and the history timeline feature is very easy to navigate to see past events. The image is clear and crisp and the night view is also very good. So far I am very impressed with the camera and I have not even fully discovered all the settings and features.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Nest Cam Battery is an indoor and outdoor camera that can be used completely without any wires. One could use the Nest Cam with the provided power cable if desired. Everything needed to install including screws and screw anchors needed to mount the camera are included. Before any of the physical installation is performed, you will need to download the Google Home app onto your phone and scan the QR code that comes with the NestCam to set it up with your existing wifi connection and your smartphone. It is a good idea to physically place the Nest Cam in the location you will install it and confirm that you have a good wifi signal and that video quality is going to be good. Once setup and configured on the phone, the Nest Cam can be configured to alert when it sees something as well as record the event automatically. The alert and the recording can be viewed on the smartphone using the Google Home app. The quality of the picture is fine during the day time but note that the picture is black and white when capturing video during night time or when it is dark. The camera can be configured for quality, as well as night mode changes. The camera includes a microphone that records sound and lets you hear what is going in addition to seeing the video. There is also a speaker that lets you speak and you could potentially have a conversation with whoever you are seeing in the video. Included with the camera is a mounting base that has a strong magnet which helps with installation across multiple surfaces. The camera itself can be placed on the mounting base at any angle as the two elements connect via a magnetic attraction. So, the camera can be placed anywhere you want at any angle you need. Very well done, Google. One problem I ran into is the limited amount of video storage. The camera records and stores video for the latest three hours. You will need to purchase a Nest Aware subscription if you need to access video for extended duration. This is severely limiting especially if you do not get to alerts immediately e.g. if you are at work and in a meeting or with a customer for a couple of hours and then you get to alerts couple of hours later, you will not be able to review the full video as the system automatically deletes video after three hours if you do not have the Nest Aware subscription. I see this as a major issue and Google should change to three hours to something more reasonable or atleast provide an alternate recording option

I got it so that I could keep an eye on my backyard, specifically my basement and I have a better peace of mind now, especially when I'm away from the house. Installation was quick and easy, and the picture is good during the day and night. The unit is designed to allow the camera angle to be easily adjusted. The unit does have to be recharged ever so often, based on usage, but it's a trade-off I'm happy to make to avoid needing wires to operate.
