Upon opening, all I had to do to set up the camera was scan a QR code and link it to my Google account. This was fairly easy but I was a bit disappointed that this didn't work on my regular nest account that I already have for my thermostat. It is a simple merge process, but unfortunate. The mount on this camera is magnetic (and very strong) which is pretty cool. It makes it easy to position and take down for charging. The wide view on the camera is perfect to capture both the walkway to my home and the door. The picture is very clear, especially compared to the other brand of camera I own. My biggest issue with the camera is the storage memory. It only stores motion video for a few hours, unless I pay for a subscription. This seems pointless because I don't check it constantly and if something suspicious happened I wouldn't know until after I got home, and by then the footage would be gone. For this reason, I really prefer to just treat it as a live monitor when I am home. Battery seems to last awhile in an area that gets frequent traffic.

The Nest cam was easy to install and easier to mount with the magnetic backing. It is battery powered so you have no wires to run but you do have to take it off the mount and recharge the camera every 3-5 days. The picture is clear especially in the day time.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The assembly and installation of this product was a snap. We already have a Nest thermostat so we were basically set up. It took no time to add on the Nest Cam. We installed inside temporarily since it is snowy and icy right now. In 4 days we have used 15% of the battery. They estimate that at this usage the battery will last another 4 weeks. Wide angle lens provides an excellent picture. We are very happy it has audio and video feature. Every object that comes into view a message is sent to me. We are very pleased.

I rent so this has allowed me to not have to run wiring through my landlord's house. I really love the face recognition and the seamless interaction with my home automation!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The magnetic base for this wireless cam works very well for holding the cam in place. The obvious con here is anyone can just grab it (steal, vandalize or just play a prank). The battery lasts a while but that probably has more to do with how often it's recording. The video is very clear. Currently, using it for indoor use. The setup is not too frustrating, it sets up fairly quickly. I did not have a "nest" account, I had to set one up. But then it uses my existing "google home" free account.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First thing, and maybe this should be obvious, this can really only be used cordless if you are going to regularly charge it or if there is some easy way to plug it in and also hang it. (There is not at my house.) You can get an exterior cord or a stand as accessories but we chose to set it up to monitor our lower level family room, where our dog and 10 year old hang out. The magnetic wall mount, while technically not meant to be used for a table top, worked fine for our purposes. Set up took under 5 minutes as we joined our existing Nest network. The camera is picture quality is really good in with adequate lighting and OK in darker settings.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Set this up yesterday, great that it can be used either in doors or out and in the wet or dry, I am using it outdoors. Quick and easy to setup as there are no wires and the magnetic mount is a great idea. Being extra strength it holds the camera well and allows you to adjust your camera view with ease. I am using the Google home app, it was easy to install and once setup gives you 24/7 streaming and alerts you to motion, sound, people and vehicles so I can easily keep track of what's happening in my driveway and the vicinity. I am impressed with the video image, it is very clear and sharp. All in all this is a great camera, easy to install and use, I would recommend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this camera for a couple of weeks and I am frustrated with it. I set it up at first inside using the Google Home app which works, but the picture can't be enlarged without flipping between portrait and landscape which is super frustrating. I've tried to find a setting to lock it but there isn't one. So I decided to set up the nest app. I've tried to set it up by scanning the bar code which then moves to the Google home app, but it never finishes set up. I tried setting it up using the 6 digit entry key which never finishes set up. Honestly at this point I am beyond frustrated. The picture looks like it can be good, but since I can't get the product to set up correctly I'm not really sure.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This indoor/outdoor Nest cam with rechargeable battery is a great product. Upon unboxing, the camera is held to the base by a very strong magnet. The base can be mounted wherever you can get a couple screws into a wall. It has two wall anchors and screws. Very simple install. The camera itself is solid and well built and has a nice aesthetic to it. I'm using it under the front porch overhang about 8 feet high so it's outdoors, but protected from rain and elements. The LED status light does shine green when recording, and while it can be dimmed, it cannot be turned off (at least not that I found). It does offer two way sound so you can talk in real time to someone in the viewing area, although I have not used it. The video quality is good and sufficient for my security/monitoring purposes. It does a good job identifying the subject as person, animal, or vehicle. The battery life will depend on how much movement it detects, but for my light usage, it should easily last 3+ months before needing to be recharged, which is a very nice tradeoff from having to have it hardwired to a power source. The Google Home app is easy to use and setup, as is the camera itself. The one detriment to this product is that without the Nest Aware subscription, you can only view recorded motion that has occurred in the last 3 hours. If it has occurred over 3 hours ago, it will be gone and you will not be able to see it (without the subscription). It's understandable they want to steer you into the subscription service (as nearly all of these types of products do) so just know that going into your purchase. Knowing that limitation going in, the product is actually very good and it performs well for what it is intended to do.
