This area is a blind spot for us and faces the entrance to our cul-de-sac. We own a couple of other Nest products and it is a reputable brand that I trust with performance and longevity. This camera also has several features which helped in making our decision to get this camera. It can be used indoors or outdoors, it is powered by the built-in rechargeable battery, and it can provide intelligent notifications (motion is caused by people, animals, or vehicles). This product was very easy to set up and install. You will first need to plug the Nest Cam into an outlet, download the Google Home app, create an account and follow the steps to set up the camera by selecting Nest Cam(battery). There is a sticker on the camera lens which has a QR code that you will need to scan to connect the camera to your home's Wi-Fi network. After connecting, you will be given the opportunity to enroll in a 15-day Nest Aware trial period which one needs to view recordings longer than the most recent 3 hours and also the face recognition feature. This is a con to me when subscriptions are required to reap further benefits. Installing the Nest Cam was quite simple as all you need to do is attach the mounting plate, with the enclosed screws and anchors, to the area you want to place the camera then lock the magnetic plate onto the mounting plate and secure the camera to the magnetic plate. The camera holds steadily once installed. The beauty of it being battery powered is that you can place it anywhere! The video quality is superb for both day and night and the motion detection and intelligent notifications were precise. I liked that these alerts can be tailored such as you may only want to be notified when a person causes the motion and not a car or animal. The app is easy to use and we are reassured that we can readily monitor our house while we are home or away.

The overall camera design , size and color is clever, simple and aesthetically pleasing. It comes with a super strong magnetic plate, which allows for a multitude of flexibility in how you want to position the camera. The mounting of it is straight forward and easy, using a wall plate, wall screws and wall anchors. The installation may take a little effort, depending on how tech savy you are. Good news is that there is plenty of support to help you get started if you need it. The video quality is good, the images are clear. I am using it at my front door for added security and love that you get alerts of any movement detected.

It has a wider range of view than all other security cameras that I've previously used, and its unbelievably simple to install since you don't need to worry about wiring it up. It has great picture quality even at night due to it's advanced night vision capability. I love the ultra user friendly interface through the app, it notifies me about everything I do want to know about and nothing that I don't. This is really a top quality security device.

The battery time frame depends on how many events / videos you run per day and could last up to 7 months if only running about 4 times a day. He has a lot to offer and the picture quality is really great for a camera.

I suggest you do face recognition before mounting. The magnetic mount is very strong and the battery life still almost full after 2 tweeks. Video and two way sound I found to be very clear. Features animal detection, vehicle detection and familiar face is awesome. Like competitors subscription required for 24H /7 or 3 hours worth of events free. Google Nest Cam does not work with Amazon,Alexa or integrate with other security systems, but you should know that before you buy. The bottom line is if you like easy and quick install this camera is for you.

I just had to find a good area to mount the magnetic base, and the camera magnetically snaps to the base. Since it is not fixed, you can move and position the camera on the base however you need. The camera is powered by an integrated rechargeable battery, so no need to run wires. My mother easily downloaded and setup the app on her phone and within minutes she had the camera connected to wifi and they were up and running with no input from me. The app notifies them when the battery is low and they simple grab the camera off the magnetic base and plug it into the provided charging cable. Highly recommended.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this camera to use outside my garage to monitor activity in the driveways and to monitor deliveries. It's working great and I love you don't have to plug it in! The setup is easy. My wife was home when it came and she opened it and we both set it up on our phones with the Google home app. It's very self explanatory and we didn't even use the instructions once we downloaded the app. Installing the camera only took me about 5 minutes and that's mainly because I couldn't find my drill. They recommend you place it around 6.5ft high. It has a very strong magnet that keeps it in place and I was shocked at how strong it is. The camera is nice because it alerts you with movement and if it's from a person or animal. It does save 3 hours for free and if you want to scan back to past dates they have very inexpensive subscriptions. Every security camera I have had has never given me any free storage only a live feed. The other feature that I love is you can talk/use the mic on the camera. So if you did catch someone out there who was not supposed to be there you can speak to them/tell them the cops are called etc. We live in the mountains and have bears come up so we will try to scare them off by talking through the mic. The battery lasted me about a month before I had to recharge it. We move a lot so not having to hard wire it makes it easy to take from place to place with only drilling the plate into the wall not worrying about plug-ins. Overall this is a great way to monitor indoor and outdoor. It's water resistant (not waterproof) so make sure it has a little cover. Mine is outdoor and just the little amount of roof cover protects it find. We get a lot snow and it's been perfectly fine.
