[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nest camera is the perfect wireless camera for indoor or outdoor use for security purposes. I placed ours on our patio in the back of the house. I love that I simply charge it and place it back on the magnet. Very good quality and easy to use. The white camera blends in well in the background. Gives me immediate alerts if someone is in the backyard whether it's a human or an animal. If I place it in the front door it alerts me about vehicles, humans, or animals. It is easy to adjust on the outside and gives me a good viewing angle. I do wish it was automatic tracking whoever was passing by and moving 360 but this isn't a ptz cam. With the unpredictable weather out here in Austin, I do like that it's weather resistant. Not to mention it survived high heat outdoors and very high humidity! But I do wish it had a case for weather proof to protect the camera in this package. It's very easy to manage on Google home app. The base comes with a magnetic part, if you have any magnetic item outside it will automatically attach, otherwise it comes with a drilling portion to install like we did. In the Google home app you can add your family or friends faces to identify families faces for facial recognition and avoidance of false alarms. So far it's been few weeks and the camera is still working and I haven't had to charge it. Quite impressive! I love the 1080p hd quality and the night mode. Pretty crisp image day or night.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was really excited to get this so I could spy on my cats in the basement. The camera itself was easy to set up, but I had to jump through some hoops to set up the camera app (had to download the nest app, then the google home app). At first, I was also annoyed because the charging cable is located in the front, which is fine if it was mounted, but if it’s on a stand, it can’t be plugged in. However, I was extremely happy to see that it lasts a week without having to be charged, so I was less annoyed. It films when it notices motion, or you can drop in live. I will say that it seems to have a hard time picking up my cats’ activities and seems to pick up human motions better. It has a really nice periphery and a great picture. Overall, I really like this product. I would definitely buy another one again.

Integration in the Google Home app went smoothly, though I did need to reset it once to seal the deal. I was originally concerned the battery life would be an issue requiring frequent charges however that has not at all been the case. Battery life has been fantastic, in all weather conditions while streaming and monitoring for activity. I like the ability for the camera to be positioned in a manner of ways and the simple outdoor mounting options. Love it!

It comes with a super strong magnetic base plate that enables you to position the camera at almost any angle when mounting it on a wall or ceiling Installation is simple and fast. Literally 2 screws! The Nest Cam can be mounted on almost any kind of surface. You can mount the camera mag base in a horizontal or vertical position. Setting up the camera using the Google Home app was very simple. Every install step is covered. Another very cool feature of the app is that during the set process you are offered several helpful tips when it came to mounting the camera on the wall, as well as being asked to select how the camera behaves when you’re away or at home! The batteries last a long time.. The difference is due to one of the cams is in a very active area. That being said. You can create an "active zone" and cut out things like passing cars. Recharging is quick with the included magnetic charging cord. The Google Nest Cams have the option to be hardwired by purchasing a cable If that's what you want to do. You will get almost instantaneous notifications to your phone or Nest Hub when the camera sees something. Adding to the Google Home app was easy and viewing your cameras through the Google Home app is easy. It has a 130-degree field of view and you get amazing detail especially the night video. As well as letting you view the events in real time, the Nest Cam will also store video clips for up to three hours after they’ve been recorded. You can review them, and if you pair the cameras with a Nest Aware subscription you’ll be able to view the footage for up to 60 days after they’ve been captured. Nest Aware also has the Familiar Face feature, that lets you to assign names to people detected by the camera, and get an alert each time they appear in the camera's field of view. This feature works seamlessly with the Nest Hub Max, Google Home and Google Assistant! Google's Nest Cams are high quality and work beautifully.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This indoor/outdoor Nest cam with rechargeable battery is a great product. Upon unboxing, the camera is held to the base by a very strong magnet. The base can be mounted wherever you can get a couple screws into a wall. It has two wall anchors and screws. Very simple install. The camera itself is solid and well built and has a nice aesthetic to it. I'm using it under the front porch overhang about 8 feet high so it's outdoors, but protected from rain and elements. The LED status light does shine green when recording, and while it can be dimmed, it cannot be turned off (at least not that I found). It does offer two way sound so you can talk in real time to someone in the viewing area, although I have not used it. The video quality is good and sufficient for my security/monitoring purposes. It does a good job identifying the subject as person, animal, or vehicle. The battery life will depend on how much movement it detects, but for my light usage, it should easily last 3+ months before needing to be recharged, which is a very nice tradeoff from having to have it hardwired to a power source. The Google Home app is easy to use and setup, as is the camera itself. The one detriment to this product is that without the Nest Aware subscription, you can only view recorded motion that has occurred in the last 3 hours. If it has occurred over 3 hours ago, it will be gone and you will not be able to see it (without the subscription). It's understandable they want to steer you into the subscription service (as nearly all of these types of products do) so just know that going into your purchase. Knowing that limitation going in, the product is actually very good and it performs well for what it is intended to do.

But the magnetic strength is extremely strong, so it attaches to the base easily and firmly, but pivots for adjustment. I have an existing Nest account, with multiple equipment and locations, but haven’t merged it with Google home yet, and you must do that to set up this camera. You can’t unmerge, so I was hesitant to do it. But all the newer equipment is set up that way so it was time. I’m using this camera outside, and even though it can use battery power, I purchased a weatherproof power cord and silicone camera cover in black, not only to protect the camera, but to make it blend better. I wish the camera came in more colors than white. Note, the camera is weather resistant, but not weatherproof, so it should be mounted in a covered area if used outside. Set up is easy on the app, and the picture quality is very good. You can use this without the Nest subscription, but you’re limited in the length and time of recordings and playback, so I would recommend getting it. Overall, it’s a nice product. Especially if you’re adding to existing Nest products. Keep it in the same family for ease of use.

I just had to find a good area to mount the magnetic base, and the camera magnetically snaps to the base. Since it is not fixed, you can move and position the camera on the base however you need. The camera is powered by an integrated rechargeable battery, so no need to run wires. My mother easily downloaded and setup the app on her phone and within minutes she had the camera connected to wifi and they were up and running with no input from me. The app notifies them when the battery is low and they simple grab the camera off the magnetic base and plug it into the provided charging cable. Highly recommended.

I love that this camera is integrated with Google. Set-up was a mostly a breeze. The picture and sound quality seem to be good too. I also like the sleekness and simplicity of design. Might be nice to have offered in a handful of colors to make it blend in more but that is not a very big deal to me.
