I often set up the cameras to monitor different points in and around my home and the ability to move the camera from location A to location B is ideal for my use case. The video quality and ease of setup is wonderful. I enjoy using the Google Home app to see all my cameras in one app.

For me, it's primary use is watching my back door and my dogs. For that, it is perfect. The image is very clear, it plugs right into all of the google home devices (and now you see it in google home VS in the nest app) and it is very easy to set up, which is its greatest perk. Don't forget to update your google home app if you're unable to find it, that cost me 10 minutes!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I installed this camera for my elderly parents to monitor their front door. The setup was super easy. I just had to find a good area to mount the magnetic base, and the camera magnetically snaps to the base. Since it is not fixed, you can move and position the camera on the base however you need. The camera is powered by an integrated rechargeable battery, so no need to run wires. My mother easily downloaded and setup the app on her phone and within minutes she had the camera connected to wifi and they were up and running with no input from me. The app notifies them when the battery is low and they simple grab the camera off the magnetic base and plug it into the provided charging cable. Highly recommended.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was excited to get my Nest Cam (Outdoor or Indoor, Battery). This is the first time using a security camera, and I really like this one. The overall camera design , size and color is clever, simple and aesthetically pleasing. It comes with a super strong magnetic plate, which allows for a multitude of flexibility in how you want to position the camera. The mounting of it is straight forward and easy, using a wall plate, wall screws and wall anchors. The installation may take a little effort, depending on how tech savy you are. Good news is that there is plenty of support to help you get started if you need it. The video quality is good, the images are clear. I am using it at my front door for added security and love that you get alerts of any movement detected.

I have been a long time user of Nest products, going back to before Google purchased them. Their hardware and iOS app have been flawless. I purchased the Nest battery camera as I was excited for this new launch and to place my camera in places where I had no access to power. Unfortunately the new cameras do not work with the Nest app, they only work with the Google Home app. I wouldn't have much of an issue with this if the controls of viewing the live feed and history were similar but they are not great in the Google home app. Also if you pay for Nest Aware you won't get the features you pay for unless the camera is plugged into a power source. To save battery life the event history is only 30 seconds long, most events caught the end of a person walking by and if that person showed their face in the 31st second the camera wouldn't show that history, the events hard stop at 30 seconds.The Nest app is perfect, I hope Google doesn't try to discontinue this over time.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Pros 1. It is extremely easy to set up. 2. It merges with an existing google account which most people have these days. 3. The magnetic mount is handy and avoids complex installation. 4. The app is very intuitive and easy to connect with the camera. The clarity of the picture is very good. 5. It is weather sealed, so it should take the abuse of outdoor installation. 6. The camera itself is small and doesn't grab attention. 7. The wifi reception is very good for a long range. The only con I can think of is a lack of removable battery, which means that once the camera runs out of battery, you need to physically take the camera and charge it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is an amazing, easy to use security camera. Google Nest thought of everything with this camera. With two quick screws you can attach the mounting hardware where ever you need the camera. The strong sturdy magnet then grabs the camera and allows you to easily tilt and move your camera where ever you would like it to be. It connects easily to your Google Home devices and gives an amazing clear picture making it a great way to keep track of your home while you are away. I love that when you need to charge you simply pull down the camera plug it in and then pop it back on the magnet. Absolutely an ingenious product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the physical product. It was simple to install outside and position so that I could see what I wanted. The removable base on a magnet makes it super simple to change the position of the line of site. To install you just take the base ring and two screws and find a location that you can drill into and you can point at what you want. Once you have the base ring on the wall you just twist the white base onto that and you are good to go. This unit comes with its own charger. I have had it up for 5 days now and the batter usage shows that it is at 98%. I have it at my front door and I don't get a great deal of action in my front yard so it only wakes up maybe 4-6 times a day. I don't know how to judge the time between recharging by I think I will definitely get a month out of this. With the magnetic base the camera module itself can be moved into hundreds of positions on the base. As for installing the software. If you are a normal type of use and have never used google home / nest products before you will probably have yours up and running in about 10 minutes. The process is supposed to be super simple and that is what I was expecting. If your email is on google enterprise (as mine was) and you have other google products or an old nest account you will want to shoot yourself by the time you get this installed. I had all the applications I needed on my phone but they were pointing to the only email I have which was an enterprise account. I kept getting stuck in an endless loop of trying to migrate from nest to google home. even after uninstalling all the products there were still issues. So I should have followed the advice of others and just created a new gmail account which I ended up doing. However on an android phone with probably some remains of my old accounts I still was unable to set this up. I had to go to an old ipad of mine that had never had any of this software. Once I did this I was up and running in about 5 minutes. You only really get one sheet of documentation with the device and it is in about a 5 point font which is tough on us old farts. Once I got the software up and running it was fun. I was able to tell the device what I wanted it to clue in on (people, packages, pets....) and I was also able to setup a notification scheme. So now I get notified when someone is at the door. THis is helpful as packages are stolen often in my neighborhood. I did not setup the additional package of home away assist but it appears that if you link your account to your phone it senses when your phone is home or not and you can modify your notifications accordingly. Now that i have it setup I love the product and will probably get a few more.

Google products are always well packaged and designed. This Nest Cam is currently being used at a rental property, its great to be able to set up security devices without the need for contracts and have the portability to re-locate. The camera is very minimalistic and is easy to install and set up through Application. It is a great piece of mind having another set of eyes to watch over your property. Highly recommend!
