Great Safe!

It's heavy and can be bolted to the floor. No problems with operating it and it has a lot of space. The price was good - it's perfect!

Just right

I have been looking for a safe that would fit in my office. And this one was just the right size. The price was right also.

Aggravating!!!

The safe worked OK for a time. After leaving the door open while in storage for about a year, I installed new batteries and I placed some items into it, but the door would not close and "latch". Finally got rough and got it closed. Then IT WOULD NOT OPEN! Tried my combination, tried factory original combination, and tried the "key". After repeating these efforts 5 or 6 times, the handle broke off! Tried to call SentrySafe and gave up after 25 minutes waiting for connection to a real person. Emailed a request for help on the SentrySafe website, but no response. After a few days without Sentry feedback, I needed some items in the safe, so I drilled and sawed a large hole in the back of my safe. Got what I needed, but had to destroy this "safe"! Now I am looking for a better product with, I hope, better customer service.

Not recommended

We have had this safe approximately two years. We have had several issues with it. The motor to unlock it has always been weak. In talking with SentrySafe's customer service, they had us remove the battery tray it came with & use a 9V battery instead. We continued to have issues with it, although not as frequently & were just told to use a brand name battery with an expiration date 10 years in the future. Finally, the door just came loose where it was welded to the top hinge.

No warranty

Sentry Safe will not stand behind nor honor their warranty. Ours will not lock. They Sight the customer mistake, batteries, door gasket and anything else they can think up. Finally, it's your problem not ours. Note it not the CS on the phone it's IS the person who they answer to, who refuses honor warranty and service.

Sentry Safe

Bought this so I could quit paying for a lock box and having to constantly run after stuff. Very well built - love all the space - can easily lay documents that are 11 x 14 down flat inside. Good investment !!

Poor quality control from the manufacturer

I bought this safe several months ago. The size is nice and the interior is nicely lined. We got the first one home and were unable to get the door open, we took it back to Sam's. The second one was fine, we had them open it in the store. However, within a couple of months of use the trim around the door, held in place by two sided tape, started falling off. I contacted the manufacturer by phone and then emailed the pictures they requested. After a few exchanges by email, I was told the only remedy was to return the 170 pound safe to Sam's. This problem could have been easily resolved by sending new trim pieces I could install myself or even just sending me the proper tape to reattach the trim with. I expected more from Master Lock and Sentry Safe products. After another email with pointed questions they did finally confirm the trim was cosmetic and would not compromise the fire or water protection. I knock off one star for the really poor quality control. I knock off another star since rather than moving a 170 pound item both ways, again, I will have to fix the trim myself.

Good safe, so heavy it can't be carried off.

Quality safe with carpeting throughout the inside. Heavy enough that it can't be carried off, and it has a key manual over ride if the batteries fail on the key pad. The key pad is the only plastic part on the safe as far as I can tell and mine was cosmetically damaged during transit. Wasn't apparent until I accepted delivery, so make sure you inspect it really well when you receive the safe. It still works flawlessly and when I have the time, I'll see if the manufacturer has a replacement. Can't beat the price at Sam's Club, at least one hundred less than anywhere else.

Fine Safe

After someone destroyed the exact safe trying to break into it...they did not get in....all they got was some good exercise, we bought another just like it. I had to call a safe locksmith to get into the old broken one. He got into it in about 5 minutes as the handle and all items on the front were ripped off and laying on the ground. I had the back up key. This safe took a little time for it to work properly when we first got the first one. After some "breaking in" by us when it was new, it worked just fine. The new safe, after the break in, was a pain in the tush to get into. After calls to Sentry safe and not giving them some right numbers for model number I gave up in frustration for a month. After putting in new batteries (the old ones were just fine) it seems to work for a while. A month past and it started to act up again. I called them again and was put on hold. I was on hold for 40 minutes. I was disconnected as the guy did not know the answer. So I said the heck with this. So I piddled with the new safe again and put new batteries in it AGAIN, AND Piddled some more. Then I learned the handle needs to be taken all the way to the right to get it to open. The handle has a little play in it and if it is not all the way to the right the safe combination will not work. Hopefully this will save you time because I had a lot of frustration with it not wanting to open until I figured this out. It's a fine safe and I've spent 6 times as much for a safe this good. We mounted it to both the floor and drilled holes out the back and also mounted it to the wall. Good luck and skill to anyone taking or getting into this safe.
