The taste can taste the fruit sort of sweet first then a bitter aftertaste. A bold aged sharp cheese would taste very good together or a possible sweet milk chocolate. Overall not a bad wine but not my favorite one either.

I can see myself enjoying this at any weeknight dinner, especially with hearty soups like white clam chowder or baked potato soup.

Robert Mondavi Private Selection Rum Barrel-Aged Merlot is absolutely delish. Rum is not a preferred Spirit for me. So, I was genuinely astonished that I liked it! The plum and blueberry flavor of the Merlot really mesh well with the Rum. It also has a soothing fruity aroma with a hint of Vanilla. This rich, versatile full bodied wine paired perfectly with our BBQ Chicken and doubled as a dessert wine with plain Pound Cake. I think I will next try it with pasta and/or a charcuterie. I plan to purchase again for myself, as well as, serve/gift to my family and friends.

Deep, rich tannins and a hint of smoke round out the wine with a lingering finish. A fine choice to pair with grilled skirt steak, kobe beef sliders, cured meats, and aged cheeses.

I enjoy dense, complex wines with a full mouth feel and a bit toward the jammy side. This fit the bill and I am adding it to my short list of really enjoyable reds.

My friends and I did a wine tasting party all liked this one. It's a little dry, not overly sweet with a slight smoky aroma. I think it would pair well with a grilled steak, but we just drank it with cheese and crackers. Its a great casual wine to share with friends. Robert Mondavi never disappoints.
