I have 2 of these composters, giving me 4. I like having 2 so you can start one and then work an another when that one is full so you can keep composting. I put i grass clippings, leaves, kitchen scraps and even a little dirt to keep it going. I found that oak leaves don't compost well so brake them up if you use them. I also found that keeping it moist made it work a lot faster. I would add water to it weekly if it got to dry and it would compost a lot faster. Setting it up was a bit of a chore but they are solid and work well. I have used them for a year and half and I got some really good compost. It does take time though. It took me about 6 months. If I had known to keep it moist I could have done it faster. It's been nice not to waste my grass clipping and kitchen scraps and leaves in the garbage. I'm getting good soil and it's rewarding.

I liked this composter a lot at first. Now the locking mechanism on both sides is so rusted it’s very hard to get them closed completely. I thought I had it closed enough yesterday (but evidently didn’t) and and of course it dumped half baked compost all over the place when I turned it. What a mess. I’m going to call the manufacturer to see if their lifetime warranty is, in fact, that. It’s only about 5 years old.

I purchased this product over 5 years ago. Love the fact that you can have one side "cooking" while filling the other. Came back to read recent reviews as I was thinking of replacing my unit due to rusting issues. Found that the parts I was having issues with had been upgraded on new models. I contacted customer service hoping to purchases replacement parts. Darwin from customer service went above and beyond. The replacement parts arrived today at no cost to me. Thank you!

I bought this 2-3 years ago from BJs and has definitely made composting easier and neater. Over time the corners have fallen out and the hardware inside the tumbler has rusted together. I was able to lubricate the hardware in one barrel with WD40 but the other is rusted solid and handle will not turn so lid can't latch closed. Customer service ordered new hardware which is backordered so it seems many are having same problem. Hopefully next time they will consider using galvanized metal for parts that are exposed to moisture for extended periods.

I really LOVED this composter...UNTIL the hinge mechanism holding the lid on to one of the containers rusted through and the lid fell off. Without a lid, the Dual Compost Tumbler does not tumble! We purchased the composter during the summer of 2013, so it was only two years old. The hinge mechanism appears to have rusted through. The composter was not exposed to water often, as Texas is drought-stricken. Nor was the lid stressed excessively, as it rested on a fence when it was opened. Now, the lid on the remaining container is almost impossible to open, I'm guessing due to rust. This is a product that has great features and that should be getting uniform five star reviews, but I cannot give it anything but a one-star because cheap parts were used in the most critical places.

The aerator bar was missing two holes, which I had to drill myself to complete assembly. After encountering this issue I read others also had this problem. The biggest problem is that the bars of the metal latching mechanism do not fit in the holes inside the drum. I have to forcefully push the lid down to get the lid to lock. I previously purchased the composter that uses clips (60058) to close and it worked great.

The dual tumbler is about 4 years old. The hinge broke and i finally decided to replace it. Couldn;t find one that worked at the local hardware store so i decided to see if i could get one from Lifetime. To my surprise, not only can I get one, but I get it for free!! I just assumed once it was sold they would be like so many other manufacturers - it was mine at that point. Nice to be pleasantly surprised

It took a full day to assemble, and then started rusting the moment I started loading compost materials into it. First both metal lid opening assemblies became very stiff and hard to operate, then the metal hinges on one lid started rusting away, and then broke so that the lid fell off, rendering that bin unusable. The hinges on the second lid are heading the same way. The dual-bin tumbler is a cool concept. Execution, not so much.

I have a double bin rotating composter that rusted with time, which is expected since it’s kept it outside in the rain, but the hinge broke. I emailed customer service and within a week they sent me replacement hinges will all the accessories!!! I am amazed by their excellent customer service and standing behind their products!

I bought this dual compost tumbler about 5 or more years ago, and although it is still working fine, the pins that lock the bins to keep them from turning between tumbles broke pretty soon after we started using it. Not a big deal if I have a balanced load in there (not always so easy). The bigger issue is that one of the sleeves that holds two of the side panels together has begun to distort so badly I know it will soon give out, in which case that barrel would fall apart. So, on a whim, I called Lifetime customer service to ask whether they had replacement parts, and was astounded to find out that they do, and they are shipping extra sleeves and locking pins to me, no charge! The customer rep I spoke with was very pleasant and helpful. This is such an unexpected experience in this world today that I just had to write a glowing review. I am very impressed and pleased. So, my bins have lasted fairly well all things considered, and the company clearly backs up its products to help customers get many more years out of them. I really do like these composters. Thank, you Lifetime for being the type of company I wish all companies were today that aren’t all about “throw away products.”
