All three cars have Altimax 43s now

First I bought a set of Altimax RT43s for my 1990 Mazda Miata in part because few tire builders make tires for that car. But I liked what they did for the ride and handling. So, a few months later, I put a set on my 2012 Acura TSX Sportwagon. After all, an online tire selector at a major retailer recommended the tires for the car, and a consumer review I ran across said you could pay more for a set of tires, but why would you want to? Again, the ride and handling are fine. So, this winter, when we could no longer get my wife's 2007 Honda Odyssey minivan up our driveway whenever it snowed, it was no contest. Another set of Altimax RT43s for good grip in snow. Plus, you guessed it, good ride and handling. Three different cars. One good value in tires. General Altimax RT 43s.

Great all season tire

The General AltMAX RT 43 has got to be the best tire I've ever seen in it's class. Reasonably priced, long tread life, holds the road  in dry, wet, and even light snow well. And best of all, the tire is very quiet on the road. I've bought four complete tire sets so far. Two for my cars, two for my daughters cars. Just hope they don't stop making them.

Great tires!

I bought these tires for my Honda CRV because they were highly rated in a consumer magazine.  The review has been accurate.  These tires give a very smooth ride and are very responsive in wet weather.  We have been very pleased with a slight increase in gas mileage.

Very good performance and price

In Nov. & Dec., 2017, I bought 3 sets of 4 Altimax RT43s, for my AWD Equinox, my spouse's FWD minivan, and for daughter's FWD Kia Spectra.  We have 15,000 miles on all these tires.  It's been a snowy winter in NE PA, and these tires have been very good in snow & rain.  They were near the top of the list in CR's 2018 Buying Guide, which is one of two reasons I chose them.  The other reason is the price was very good compared to other name brands.  They appear to have little wear them after 5 months.  I am very pleased with the Altimax RT43s.

I'm on my second set of these tires!

I commute 64 miles a day for work and live in northwest PA, experiencing treacherous winters.  The General Altimax Rt43 have been the best tires I've ever owned.(I'm on set #2)  I use them year round on a 2008 Ford Fusion!  I am most impressed with their winter capabilities.  I drive in heavy snow and ice conditions at times and never have to wonder if I'm going to make it.  If you adjust your driving to the conditions, these tires will not disappoint.  The other great feature is the water displacement.   The roads I travel have ruts which collect water when it rains.  They have very good resitence to hydroplaning.  While I didn't get anywhere near the mileage of the warranty, they lasted me 2 years and wore evenly.   This is quite a feat if you've ever driven on Pennsylvania roads  I would highly recommend these tires if you appreciate getting from point a to b safely!

Really great ride!

I bought these tires about 3 months ago. They have good traction no worries about hydroplaneing. The price is right, economical plus good value. I've had general tires in the past and always had great performance. These I'm sure will give the same results.

Nice Tires

Got these for an 02 A6 that my wife drives. No issues other than a nail she hit within 2 weeks of getting them. Glad for that TR road hazard warranty! I haven't heard any noticeable noise from the cars and put winters on shortly after they were installed, so I haven't had them for long. I like that these were available in the XL rating. Her winters are Generals as well and I've had no issues. Nice traction in Pittsburgh winters, which while not all that snowy, are indeed icy!

excellent in inclement weather

We live in Southern California and bought new tires in preparation for a Thanksgiving trip through Utah and into Oregon.  Sure enough we hit snow at one of the higher passes and we made it through safely - with more than 50 cars on our side of the road that had slid off the road.  We were very grateful.

Happy so far

Replaced a disappointing, worn set of Michelin's with these tires about 2 1/2 months ago. So far I'm very happy with them. They give a nice ride and have good dry traction. Can't comment on wet or snow/ice traction yet. But, I have noticed a slight increase in MPG. Glad I chose them.

wierd ride characteristics

Only about 2500 mi on tires (225/65/17 on Dodge Caravan).  Quiet, with only a slight tread hum on smooth asphalt.  Terrific wet & dry traction.  Track straight & true, no wandering, no balance problems.  At mfr recommended 36 PSI they are very harsh riding.  Reduce that about 3 PSI and they become a different tire.  At 33 PSI I can't tell any difference in handling, just harshness.  Remains to be seen whether they can be run at the lower pressure without wearing down the outside edges.
