HORRIBLE DRYER

Dryer ate my clothes for 3 weeks and ruined multiple pants and sweatshirts with string as well as zippers. Can't figure out the dry cycle to even dry the clothes efficiently. Lint containers has already ripped. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER LG ANYTHING.................

Hi, Jennifer. We appreciate you sharing your experience with your LG DLE8400BE Dryer. We want you to feel supported with both performance and next‑step options, and your feedback helps us see what’s been happening on your end. When items show signs of snagging, confirming that the load size allows for free tumbling, ensuring drawstrings and zippers are secured, and checking the drum and lint filter area for any obstructions can help prevent fabric from catching while a technician evaluates the drum seal and filter housing. Verified Purchase

So far, so good. Works very well.

Though still pretty new, and haven't use many times.

Garbage Product

Worst product I’ve ever owned. I’ve had the LG washer and dryer for less than two years and I’ve experienced nothing but problems. Worst company to do business with as well. I will never buy another LG product.

Hi, Seitz. We appreciate your time sharing your review regarding your LG Dryer, model DLG8401WE. We recognize your shared experience with the performance of your laundry appliances over the past two years and your experience doing business with us. To help ensure your dryer performs at its best and dries your laundry efficiently, we recommend clearing the lint filter before every load and verifying that your home exhaust vent duct is completely free of lint buildup or obstructions, which can restrict airflow and impact drying times. You can also run the Installation Test cycle built into the dryer control panel to automatically check for any exhaust blockages. We want to help ensure your laundry setup operates perfectly and comfortably for your household. Please send us an email at lgdigitalcare@lg.sprinklrsupport.com if you need further support. ^James

Does not dry

Not a good product. Doesn't dry your clothes thoroughly and they come out wrinkled. If you try to turn the dryer back on it will dry for up to one minute with cold air and shut itself off. You cannot increase the dry time either. Horrible product.

Hello. We appreciate you taking the time to share your review regarding your LG DLE8400BE Dryer. We recognize your experience with clothes coming out damp and wrinkled, as well as the unit shutting off shortly after restarting. To help improve drying performance and prevent premature shutoffs, ensure the lint filter is thoroughly cleaned before each load, verify that the exhaust duct is free of lint buildup, avoid overloading the drum to allow proper heat and air circulation, and try using a Manual Dry cycle like Speed Dry or Time Dry when adjusting time settings manually. Horrible all around

Worst dryer I have ever owned and the washer that goes with it is even worse than the dryer. Nothing is ever completely dry after the first cycle AND the clothes come out VERY wrinkled. I have to iron every pair of pants that comes out of there (even dry fit comes out wrinkled) and if I didn't refuse to iron T-shirts, those would need be ironed as well. I have had this unit barely over a year. I will never purchase LG again and I'm counting down the days until I can afford to dump this and buy a new one.

DISAPPOINTED

while it functions For the most part I have two major issues. The folding lint filter is designed flawed for the frame where the filter folds has broken twice in a little over a year with normal use just from opening and closing the filter to clean it. My other complaint is that for me the black control panel is very difficult to read and so easily fingertip printed. I would sacrifice some bells and whistles for knobs as controls. Lg has replaced the filter twice but now that my unit is over year old the burden will fall on me in the future. The filter needs to be re-designed.

Hi. Thank you for sharing your experience with your LG dryer. The way you described the folding lint filter breaking multiple times and the difficulty reading the black control panel gives a clear picture of how the LG unit has been working for you. Your notes about normal use, the repeated replacements, and how the panel shows fingerprints easily are especially helpful in understanding the day‑to‑day impact. Beware!!!!

If I could do negative stars I would. Don’t waste your time with this junk. It looks nice but will give you a d80 and d90 code every time. My one load of laundry has take almost 8 hours to dry because it keeps shutting down. And before you ask, this is a brand new home. The lint vent is perfectly fine and every other avenue as been explored. It’s just this hunk of junk that now I am out of money on because LG does not offer a trade up anymore. Go elsewhere.

Great evidence for why AI is useless.

Probably the greatest reason to avoid AI. Unlike non-AI, non-WiFi dryers you can't modify the default settings; you have to log in to the app and download a custom setting - and you only get one. The AI setting seems to know only 1 temperature setting - incinerate. Previous dryer was a non-intelligent LG - which worked great - I could pick a setting and modify it. Hopefully somebody at LG sees this and releases a S/W update that allows modification to the default settings. Otherwise this 2 month old dryer is destined to be replaced by a non-AI model.

Hi there, thank you for sharing your experience with your LG DLE8400WE dryer. The ability to tailor drying cycles is important, and this model gives you a few ways to adjust how it runs. Along with the AI Dry option, you can select manual cycles like Normal, Heavy Duty, or Delicates and then modify temperature, dryness level, and time to match your preferences. Creating a custom cycle in the ThinQ app also allows you to save those adjustments for quick access on the control panel. This guide walks through the available cycles and how each one can be customized: https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/lg-dryer-cycles-and-options--20152068325571 If you’d like our team to take a closer look at your setup or explore additional ways to fine‑tune the dryer to your liking, feel free to reach out to lgdigitalcare@lg.sprinklrsupport.com and we’ll be glad to help. Terrible machine

I bought this dryer recently and I don't like it at all. I don't recommend it. It feels like it was designed by someone who never did a load of laundry in their life. For a start, there is a small area inside the machine at the front, where there is a grill that leads into the lint trap, where clothes get caught. Every load, something gets trapped there, and often it then gets twisted into oblivion as the machine carries on tumbling. Drawstrings, the edge of underwear, shirt collars… something will always get stuck. Then there is how completely un-customizable the cycles are. Despite it having five levels of heat, you can't change them on most cycles. Normal and “AI Dry” can only be done on medium-high. Nothing else. Have a load that you'd like to dry on medium low but Normal cycle? Too bad, can't be done. Perm press is only medium. Bedding is only medium. Why? I have nice bedding that I'd like to dry on low! There are buttons to select your heat level, but the cycles won't allow you to do so. But the biggest problem is how even if you choose “Very” for your dryness level, everything always comes out damp. And yes, I have a brand new exhaust hose, and a clean outlet pipe. It isn't that. It's the fact that the dryer only wants to run for the bare minimum amount of time possible. It gives you about 40 minutes most of the time, then pings that it's done. And your clothes are still wet. Useless. And lastly, just a small point, but they've made the top of it sloped, so you can't store anything on top of it, or fold anything on it, or put a few things there while the rest finishes. The sloped top makes no sense; it offers no benefit and just makes life harder for you. Don't buy this machine. I wish I hadn't.

Too Sensitive

Takes forever to dry. The electronic dryness sensor constantly interferes and slows things down or stops the drying. The exhaust is simply not sufficient to push the hot air out. I have a long run to the outside but have a booster fan that has worked well over the decades. Two previous dryers had no problem with it. The booster fan is working fine and we have had the vent cleaned as well but the LG programming is just too sensitive.
