[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am thoroughly impressed with the high quality and innovation of Sony products. These headphones definitely do not disappoint! I did have to download an app to sync these to my Android phone but it took no time to install and get these bad boys going. The sound is impeccably crisp and clear! This noise canceling technology brings the sound down to a quiet muffle, if they're off, and once I add sound I can't hear distractions. I am really excited to use these when I'm doing yard work and working out.

First the good stuff: the audio quality is excellent. Further, more than any other headset I have ever purchased, these are incredibly durable. For someone who overuses headphones (even falling asleep in them, etc.), this is very important. Compared to something like Beats Studio3, which I used to own, these have lasted far longer. One thing that really bothers me is the voice notification system. Specifically, every time you connect or disconnect to the headphones, there is a beep and a loud robot voice interrupts to tell you about the connection or disconnection. It takes like 10 seconds during which the headphones are unusable. Ex: you are connected to your phone and your laptop, but you decide to go for a run, leaving your laptop at home. Once you get away from your house, the robot voice interrupts your podcast/song/audiobook to notify you that your second device was disconnected. Ex: you connect to your laptop to listen to a YouTube video. You start watching the video but the voice interrupts and you miss the beginning of the video, so you have to rewind. It is extremely annoying and unnecessary. And there is no way to turn this off in settings, I have tried. I know it seems very small but it is actually very frustrating, and for a product that is this expensive they should’ve removed such an obnoxious feature. I hope this is fixed in an update or in the next model, otherwise I will have to look around for other headphone options. If I’m paying 400 for headphones they should be devoid of poorly designed features like this.

This is my third Sony high res headset I own. I bought last week mainly because of 2 new features I didn't have on WH-1000XM3. I really lowed WH-1000XM3s because excellent sound quality. On XM3 NC worked fine in the office, but sometimes had issues outside withe repeated sounds, let's see how XM4s will perform.. I use the headphones in the office and support for 2 devices is finally supported, but NOTE there is something specs and advertisements don't say. If you enable this feature the LDAC is gone and it will switch headphones to AAC 44khz/16bit only. So my question to Sony is if it would be possible to keep for example LDAC (2 channels) on phone and AAC for laptop with some future firmware update? I'm switching between modes often to enjoy TIDAL music in better quality, but another issue is that headphones don't reconnect to second device automatically. So you need to enable second device support in the menu and go to different menu to reactivate second device. Another idea to Sony: Make this as an option to button and reconnect to second last used device automatically. Second new feature I really like is new sensor which will stop music when you take headphones off. I experienced some small issue today. Not sure if it was the trigger, but I walked with phones off my ears and heard email notification coming to headphones an then music started playing. I just moved them a bit and music stopped again. I was hopping for redesigned touch control which is quite a pain. Maybe next time? I have a feeling that NC is better even passive when headset is off. Comfortable to wear even outside on the street. Didn't experience any troubles like on previous model, but maybe I didn't met similar conditions yet. With XM3 the issue was for example in train when window was open and columns along the trail were creating specific noise. The headphones generated even louder noise and the only solution was turn this feature off. There are new mics inside which might hopefully prevent this situation. So some improvements are still needed, but overall the sound quality is still outstanding and I'm still ranking 5 stars.

It's not just that the noise-canceling capability is phenomenal (it is), it's also that the sound quality is fantastic. When I tried them out at home, I was stunned with the sudden silence they provided before listening to music. When I tried them on an airline flight, they not only provided magnificent sound with the engine noise gone (not just reduced) but also helped create a relaxing environment for the trip. The right ear has touch controls; just swipe a finger up/down for volume and forward/back for next or previous song. Cover the ear to quickly deactivate noise-canceling to hear announcements or conversations whenever needed. These headphones are simple, easy, and intuitive, and they're everything you would expect from Sony.

Don’t take away the custom EQ, but please bring back VPT as an added feature set. Nothing more to say...if VPT returns with a software update these will be hands down the BEST HEADPHONES WORLD WIDE, and the sells will flourish. For now I’m keeping mine. Purchased Silver but I won’t change my 3 STAR review to 5 Stars until the VPT is brought back with a software update.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These headphones are amazing! I started using them a week ago and I already feel I can not live without them! First of all, I was very surprised at how comfortable they are and how well they adjust to my head. They are lightweight and not bulky at all! They were easy to connect to my phone by using the Sony Headphones App which is easy to navigate and use, and has many features like giving you the ability to control the background sounds. I also love the buttonless control panel on the side. The sound quality is amazing and the noise cancelation works great! I had them on while the rest of my family was watching TV and I could not hear anything but the podcast I was listening to. This is so great because before I would have to turn the volume up very high on my phone to drown out the TV noise and it would hurt my ears! I also have been using them while I work from home. It is so great not to hear my dog bark or the grass being cut while I am trying to concentrate on my work. I also love the carrying case which will be great for using them when I travel on an airplane. This is a great product from Sony and I highly recommend these headphones. My husband is already wanting a pair!

I never thought I would buy wireless headphones for playing music. I thought you would get better sound quality out of wired headphones. I was wrong. And the best thing about these headphones is the Audio Bluetooth Codec's that are supported A2DP connection: SBC, AAC, and LDAC. so if you have Hi definition records you can listen to them at their full fidelity

Sound is beyond perfect.really comfortable fit ,they don't hurt your ears at all.noise canceling is excellent. Really nice carrying case for them.really like the touch to pause feature. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like that they are lightweight and comfortable to wear. When I have them on I don't hear the outside noise from my husband watching TV. It is so convenient with the Bluetooth connection to move around freely. The sound quality is Awesome!
