The generator came nicely packed, was easy to put the wheels on, and, once everything was set, it fired right up. I have faith in Westinghouse.

On the very day that I did the preoperation service on the unit our electricity went out. I was ready! I followed the instructions and pulled the rope. It started immediately. We plugged a light and a heater into it and never felt the effects of the outage. I am quite satisfied!

The setup brochure was easy to follow and tools and oil were provided. Within minutes the feet were mounted, wheels installed, oil added using the spout provided. Then it was adding fuel and pulling the cord. Started on the first pull. Zero problems. Now it's ready and waiting for when storms knock out my power.

Assembly is minimal, quick and easy. Easy to get running - add oil/gas, turn fuel valve, choke and then pull and go. Easy to start and runs well. While it is heavy, it has wheels to allow it to be rolled around without having to lift the whole unit. Good buy given nice features, ease of use, and compact size.

Our old one is 20 years old, and hard to start. In case of emergency, we needed a new, easy start one. This Westinghouse model fits our needs. Great price and gives us peace of mind in case we ever need it. Also, it is a compact unit; it doesn't take up a lot of space. My husband really likes the fold-down handle. Easy assembly putting on the wheels.

The first was that the oil fill cap wasn't tightened after the oil was drained at the factory, so the residual oil leaked out all over the generator and box, which required a fair amount of clean up. Secondly, one of the retaining clips for the air filter housing was broken, also right out of the box. WH was very good though about sending out a replacement part, so kudos to them for having good service. Aside from that, seems like a solid unit and i'm hoping for years of service.

Filled with (included) oil and connected the battery. Put some gas in the tank, checked that the circuit breakers were closed, switched the fuel valve to on, set the choke to on and pushed the start button. INSTANT START. Ran it for an hour for the required breakin period, pushed the off button and shut off the fuel valve. What could be simpler? But simplicity aside, I have to tell you—I have owned six different generators. The Westinghouse 5300s is (hands down) the best I have ever seen. Everything—and I do mean EVERYTHING—is top quality, including little things such as waterproof, paper for EVERY piece of paper that came with the generator. The instructions...

After asking friends and co-workers about features to look for and reading reviews on brands and generator types I decided to go with Westinghouse. I felt the WGen5300v was the best value for my needs and budget. It came with a wheel kit, a nearly 5 gal. (4.7) gas tank, easy to follow instructions and is easy to start. I have not needed it for an emergency yet but have no doubts it will provide more than enough power. An added bonus was that the engine (for its size) was not extremely loud.

I like that it can be set up with the transfer switch so that we don't have to run extension cords all through the house. It appears to be good quality.

It also comes along with us and powers our travel trailer when we camp away from amenities. I especially like having both the twist plug outlet for the house hookup and the 30Amp receptacle for the trailer.
