Excellent!! The unit came sooner than expected, thank you Walmart.
The generator came nicely packed, was easy to put the wheels on, and, once everything was set, it fired right up. I have faith in Westinghouse.
My area is looking at an icing event, Im excited I have backup for power.

- 5 out of 5 stars review11/23/2020I bought this generator one week ago. It was very easy to set up. Instructions are very good and easy for anyone to understand. I never owned or operated a generator and was happy that this one was quite simple to set up and operate. Started right up and ran nicely. Great value for the money!
Easy to set up!
ronkOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 4 out of 5 stars review5/28/2021I received this generator, works great, the only issue I had is the frame was bent when I received it. It didn't affect the way it runs, but I was unable to lower the handle all the way down. I disassembled the generator, and once I had everything removed from the frame, I straightened it. After reassembly, it still works great.
Awesome Generator, Bad Shipping
5300 GeneratorOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review10/23/2020Just purchased for a back-up generator for my home. Easy to assemble the wheels. Cranked on the first try. Electric start is great. Also verified that the pull start would work as a back-up method. Power output is consistent and verified with a voltage meter. Have run it a couple of times to break it in according to the instructions. Seems to be a good unit and was a value for the price.
Runs Great
pmgfishingOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review7/20/2024Just got it in, only 4 days after I ordered it. It has a good looking finish and I like the way it looks. It started on the second pull and I didn't use the choke! It comes almost completely together out of the box, just need to install the wheels and feet, and add the oil which is included. It is not too loud, and I like that the handle folds down out of the way. It's a little smaller in dimensions than my older Generac, which I now gave to my youngest son. (I have no complaints about the old one, I hadn't ran it since Hurricane Ida 2.5 years ago, and it started on the first pull, again! And I purchased it about 35 years ago) I just wanted to update with a new generator and I think I will be satisfied with this one! This one feels a litt...
Good looking generator with nice features
BeePopOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 4 out of 5 stars review9/29/2020So glad to be more prepared for MO ice storms. Really like the set up of this model. All the components are easily accessed and the panel is well marked and easy to read. The owners manual is detailed and easy to understand. A lot of power in a small but solid package.
Very Solid Generator
rexijoOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/15/2020Assembly was quick. Pull-start worked on first attempt. Runs more quietly than any generator I have had. Doesn't strain under load. Will hopefully provide us with back-up power for many years to come. Great Product! (New England power outages are frequent. This summer we were without power for 9 days after Tropical Storm Isaias.)
Supereasy set-up and start-up
chrisCTOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review3/17/2022I purchased this generator for backup power during occasional outages in our area. I researched and read reviews for several generators before deciding on this Westinghouse model. It seemed to have everything I needed at a very reasonable price. It was easy to assemble and fired right up. I like the optional electric/pull start. It works well on both. I am replacing an older generator I have had for a while. This one is much quieter and easier to start. I have only run it for about an hour, stopping and starting several times, to test it out but I am very satisfied so far and feel like this was a good purchase
Great home backup generator
Tricky RickeyOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review5/24/2021I broke my arm and was no longer able to pull start my generator. This is perfect for my needs. It runs my whole house. I just flip the lever on the transfer box. I have it stored in an outside storage unit so I don't have to move it. Just lift the lid, open the doors and away it goes. Couldn't be happier!❤️❤️❤️
Electric start is the best!
Sadie’s MommaOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review5/30/2021This was purchased due to frequent power loss here in the back country. This genset is perfect for what I need. It has the outlet that enables energizing all circuits and can be used for an RV and power equipment far from my house. Easy electric starting, easy maintenance and quiet operation.
Great power supply
D-TownOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review5/22/2022We are a retired couple who just set up our gen which went smoothly and quickly. Arrived via truck in perfect order, all parts were present. We really liked the fact that the battery for electric start is included and they even provided the proper amount of oil to fill gen for first time. Not only are paper instructions easy to follow but they are also printed directly on the gen itself. They even provided the tools to install feet along with sparkplug tool for eventual replacement. Handle for movement is already installed on gen.
So easy, really
RubyredOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review6/30/2022Westinghouse generator review I put off getting a generator for too long… Several months ago, we lost power and were without power for two days – not long but long enough to worry about when the power would be restored and potential problems of pipes freezing throughout the house including our heating system (hot water baseboard heat). I searched the internet for reviews and product information. Based on favorable reviews along with good pricing, I chose the Westinghouse WGen5300 to power my house for essential service items in the event of an extended power outage. The unit was delivered on time, undamaged and the installation instructions made easy work for the setup and testing. We have yet to use this during an emergency but wer...
Westinghouse generator best purchase!!
Buzzy21Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/1/2020We just bought this but have had it running to test it. It seems to work well and is not noticeably loud. I like that it can be set up with the transfer switch so that we don't have to run extension cords all through the house. It appears to be good quality.
Runs nice
Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review2/10/2022After the 2021 snowstorm, I decided to get better prepared for the future blackouts. I've installed a disconnect and an exterior 240V outlet that let me inject the power into the main panel after I disconnect the main breaker and isolate the whole house from city's utilities. A smooth run requires quasi-balanced loads on L1 and L2. The oil inlet could be better designed for easier access, but it is what it is.
Money well spent
Gabe 2021Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review1/27/2022I bought this 7 months ago but just unpacked it and set it up the other day. Wheel kit was easy and I added the oil and some gas and pushed the start button. Cranked in two seconds and ran smooth. Also, it's extremely quiet. Old generator was a hand crank, hard to start, killed my back, and was very loud. Thanks for building a nice product.
Electric start is sweet
bshinOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 4 out of 5 stars review8/28/2023With all the power outages in Southern California, it was time to get this for reliable backup of the entire home and appliances, for longer periods than a battery will provide and with the easy of instant refilling the tank - rather than a solar charge.
Well built, solid, reliable, easy to operate
SonicMoonOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review8/3/2024I purchased the WGen5300CV a week ago. Very easy step by step instructions on how to assemble and prepare for use. Came well packaged with tools required to assemble. Operators instruction manual is very easy to follow with step by step instruction on proper use and start upp.
Great Product
JR1.Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review4/9/2021We bought this generator as we thought it was time. Living on the coast we should of gotten one sooner. It comes with the wheels as well, a good plus as we are getting older:) After researching and reading about these, we chose this one. Medium priced, and perfect for what we need.
Nice generator
TxLadyOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review1/19/2021From the easy assembly to the electric start feature, this generator is a gem. I had my home electrical panel wired to switch over to a generator in the event of a power failure. I bought this in September 2020, so I was able to set it up under good weather conditions. I ran it for its break in period, then I shut off my home panel and plugged the generator into my home panel. The first thing I fired up inside the house was my oil fired hot water boiler to test my hot water heating system. It handled it like a charm. While that was running I switched on other circuits including 2 refrigerators and a microwave. It handled everything I would want to have should my power go out in the dead of winter. It has 2 30 amp power outlets, one for powe...
Great Little Work Horse
soos76Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 4 out of 5 stars review10/20/2020I purchased this generator to run a paint sprayer. After several uses (about 10 hours total) I am very happy with it. The generator starts easily and runs steady - no problems at all. The only (very minor) complaint I have is that the oil dipstick/fill plug is kind of hard to get at and makes it challenging to add oil without spilling.
Works Great!
schofiOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 4 out of 5 stars review7/14/2022Got it today, did the recommended break in. engine sputters from time to time,(governor thing I think), may need to be rejetted, waiting for support. After break in, seems to carry a load @ 120 volts ok. Need to get a plug to test 240 side.Instructions could be a little clearer in that you need to cut the zip tie on the battery connection and connect it.other than that it starts, it runs, it makes power, I'm happy!
Don't know if I need the Hi altitude pac.
