- 4 out of 5 stars review10/28/2020The 5300V replaces a 25 year old Generac 4000XL. The extra power will help energize an additional circuit on my transfer switch. A little difficult adding oil with the supplied hose, best to use a fluid pump. Initially started and ran rough, but determined it just needed at "least" a gallon of gas to smooth out. The meter provides voltage, frequency and hours. These are important to ensure proper maintenance. Needed to buy a meter to determine the old generator was out of spec for frequency. The first tell was flickering incandescent bulbs. Very satisfied with the build quality, all nuts and bolts tight. Removing the ground jumper was also very easy. Overall, I would recommend this generator, specially at the price.

Shutdown and did electric start, all power ports work great. Shut fuel valve and let carb run dry, unit took approximately 1minute with no heavy surge or knocking. Highly recommend Westinghouse

I know, too late but I had been shopping for one for years. I think I'll be ready for the next power outage as this generator works and sounds great. It was easy to set up. I installed the oil and some fresh gas to see it start the first pull. Hooked up some appliances to see them work. Can't say anything about longevity but I feel like I made a good investment. Fed-EX delivered it to my door in a pretty fast time.

This model is nearly 3x more powerful than the old one, and has a slightly smaller profile. It not only be connected to the transfer switch for my home, but also to my RV.

Shipping was fast, and easy. For the price you get an excellent reasonably quite generator. Ours serves as our back up power for our home. Powers our furnace, well pump, freezers, and fridge with power left over for a couple TV's internet, and wifi.

The other feature I wanted was a reliable engine, this one is perfect it has steel liners for the pistons instead of the aluminum bored blocks not only that just look at the engine itself it looks tough 274cc ,CM sensor just a great generator, when I was finishing up putting on wheels and other assembly and check points. My favorite pet Lucille even approved.

I didn't read close enough the first time and missed that I had to connect the battery connection wires. Once that was done it started right up. I ran it for the recommended hour to "break-in" the engine. So far so good. I am very pleased with the construction, overall look, and design. The plastic funnel for filling the oil was a nice touch as well as supplying all the tools needed for assembly.

I have not used this generator much yet but I did unbox it and get it all setup. It was all a snap. Minor assembly of attaching the wheel kit and stops and adding oil. It has electric start which is a real plus and it cranked right up on first try. I'm actually looking forward to our next power outage!

I went as far as making a spreadsheet listing 20 or so specifications and features for each generator when deciding my purchase. I wanted a stand by power source for my modestly sized rural home. In addition to powering some appliances and a few lights it had to provide 240 volts to a well pump. It will be connected via a manual transfer switch so the generator had to provide 240 volts through a L14-30R outlet. This requirement eliminated most other generators. I considered dual fuel generators but the added cost of such units was a deterrent and the fact that propane is more costly and provides less power from the generator t...

After a TON of research, this seemed to be the best option on the market. All the right hookups in the right quantities, smaller and less heavy than similar products, easy to wheel around, great option for both home back up and rv power. It also has great reviews and was a competitive price at home depot- speed right to my door for free. I can't wait until summer to use it!
