Pillsbury Refrigerated Pie Crusts

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Same great look/taste as in years past. I grew up eating these pie crusts and the recipe is the same. Flaky, buttery and rolls out nicely whether you are using for a savory pot pie or a sweet fruit pie. Highly recommended!!!

I have used these pie crusts since they came out but the quality and size this year were disappointing.  I called the toll free number and the guy who answered told me the recipe had been changed.  What a disappointment!  I have deep dish pie plates and there was no way I could get the crust to fit the pie plate and crimp.  In addition, I refrigerated for 30 minutes and on every pie the dough shrunk.

I've used these for years, starting when they were the ones folded into quarters -- which were challenging sometimes to seal the cracks when they were unfolded.  Yes, I could make my own.  But these are quick and easy, and frankly better than the ones I make, and better than several different friends pie crusts.  And no, they don't have "horrible ingredients".   As noted by others, shrinkage can be reduced by cooling them (in the pan) before baking, and piercing the crust.    The only thing I wish they could do is make them available in sheets, too, so I could cut them into squares and make hand-pies, or use them over a rectangular dish when making large "buffet" pies.  Another thing would be to make a variety that is sweet, for some sweet desserts. Otherwise, I love them!

I used to love this crust. It rolled out great, cooked light and fluffy. While using it today it was crumbly and weird. I checked the ingredients and there is now LARD in this. As a vegetarian, this is a total bummer. Plus the crust was lower quality.

These are great to keep on hand - always!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used these pie crusts for years in both savory and sweet recipes. I always keep some in my fridge. If they are nearing their expiration date and I don’t have immediate plans for pie, I’ll roll them out on a baking sheet, cut them in wedges, brush them with melted butter and sprinkle generously with sugar and cinnamon and bake them. Delicious!

Bought a box a couple of weeks ago, started making my blueberry pie today for the 4th of July picnic. The edges of the crust are brown and dry. It was in box, original wrappers all this time. Had to throw it all out :( It says "Best if used by: 01 JUL 2023" JL0342, Disgusting and money down the drain. Plus, no pie.

I've used this product for years, but my most recent experience was disappointing. The pie crust didn't fit my 9 inch pie plate with enough overhang to make pretty edges. And the crust seemded to shrink down the sides of the pie plate during baking. I don't know what Pillsbury has done to this product, or why. I would pay more for a good product! For now, I'm shopping for a different brand, perhaps a house brand.

Save time, use Pillsbury pre-made pie crust!! They are delicious!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am someone that loves to make food from scratch. However, I am also limited with how much time I have. When I found that Pillsbury offered a pre-made, two packaged crust, I started buying it many years ago. I love to use it for making strawberry rhubarb pie, apple pie, quiche and a family favorite, chicken pot pie! So easy to use and it breaks up wonderfully! Just like home made!

Help this pie crust

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m sorry I don’t have a photo of this item but I was very disappointed because when I tried to unroll the dough it ripped and had holes in it. It looked very dry. I’m not sure if I will buy this product again.
