No longer heating properly
I initially loved the versatility of this appliance, but after 2.5 years it stopped heating properly. Would only get up to 250 degrees max. I would consider my usage moderate. I contacted customer support to see if they could suggest a repair (I'm thinking thermostat), and was told no. However, they sent a discount code if I want to purchase another one. Not likely. I feel the PowerXL should certainly last more than 2.5 years, especially with my usage. Based on other on-line reviews, I'm not alone. Very disappointing.
Is IT on FIRE….SO MUCH SMOKE!!!!
My wife was simply coming sausage (literally 6 round patties) and we thought the Fryer was broken due to ALL THE SMOKE gushing from the sides of the door. We had to open the front, back door and windows to let the smoke out of the house. My wife was going to fry chicken this evening but we don’t want our neighbors to call the fire dept thinking our house is on fire. Sad thing is we gave our Son the Power Xl oven fryer (which we loved)…should have kept it. VERY DISAPPOINTED…this is a very bad choice!!!!
problems within 6 months; terrible warranty
I bought this to use primarily for broiling (to make up for post-hurricane kitchen appliance issues). The top heating elements stopped working in under 6 months. I contacted the company since it was under warranty, but they require you to pay to get the product to them (and it would be more cost effective to just replace with another brand and avoid this brand in future purchases).

Not what I expected
Cannot replace interior light.
This oven works ok for reheating or simple baking of biscuits, muffins, bacon etc... I have not used it in the air fryer or grill mode yet as we have only had it a couple of weeks. The interior light has already gone out. Not a big deal, I'll just replace the bulb. Oh, wait, you cannot replace the bulb. This oven is built so the interior light is not accessible to replace by the user. Check it for yourself. OK, a phone call to PowerXL customer care informs me the light cannot be replaced and no replacement part is available if I did take it apart, and my only option is to return the unit to Sam's Club for a replacement as it is well within the 90 day warranty period. Yeah, no. I am not going to box this thing up, drive 30 miles to my Sam's Club for a replacement unit when the first one has a failed part already. We will just keep using it without the interior light until the whole unit fails, then replace it with something else. No real excuse to make something as simple as an oven light non-replaceable. Though it does make me wonder about the quality and design of the unit overall. It is a shame too as it seems OK otherwise. Might just return it for a refund, but kinda hate to do that as that is a hassle and we do like the looks and basic performance of the PowerXL Air Fryer Grill. The old toaster oven (and its interior light) was still working after about 10 years of use when we replaced it with this one, because we liked the looks of, extra features and bigger size of this one. Ten years performance of old different brand oven vs. two weeks use of this one. Attached photo shows how nicely the interior light lit up before it quit working.
PowerXL Air Fryer Indoor Grill
I received this product as a gift. Wasn’t to sure how to cook in it so I referred to the book. When cooking my chicken nuggets and French fries they did not turn out. The second time I used it to cook some more chicken tenders. Bust again. So the other day I had a steak I was wanting to cook so I thought I would give it a try. It have my house so Smokey and every smoke alarm going off the entire time the steak cooked so I finally shut it off. My steak was med rare when I took it out and it had only been for 6 min. Every time I cook in it my dog hides for fear the smokes alarms will go off and they usually do. I pre washed pre heated everything in advance. Anyone else having these issues? I love my original air frier it worked awesome. This one is a big disappointment.
Good while it lasted
Worked great for 14 months, then top heaters stopped working. Until then, this was a great work horse. We toasted, air fried, grilled and baked all sorts of things. Made great fries. The grill actually made chicken and burgers as good as on out gas grill. It would've been more easier to use with digital controls, but for the price, it was ok. We got this on sale March 2022 and it died in June 2023. No warranty, so replacing with different, and, hopefully, better combo air fryer. We got our $100 out of it but do not recommend.
Almost great
The toasting function worked great, for about three weeks. In fact, it was such a sudden drop in toasting performance, I assumed it had a problem. I trashed it and bought another. After about three weeks, it also stopped toasting. I assume it is a problem with the design. I will not be buying another PowerXL product.
Garbage
Have used it for 4 months and it irritated me every single time I used it. I cannot believe I bought this poorly designed unit. I wanted something bigger for air frying, and was so convinced this would be great that I gave away my original air fryer that still worked fine, just wasn't big enough. This is so clunky, especially for toast. Always had to turn the knob past 20 minutes and then back, and those knobs are really hard to operate with senior citizen hands! Yesterday I tried to make toast for breakfast and waited and waited. This morning, I again attempted to toast an English muffin when I realized it was barely heating at all. A quick test of its functions tells me that it no longer is effectively heating. This will go in the garbage and I am leaving this review in the hopes no one else gets taken in by this. Sam's Club should take this entirely out of its stock.
Lousy knobs
The person that designed this should be given a job as a sanitation engineer. He sure doesn't know the first thing about making something user friendly. These shiny knobs may look really nice but the timer one is totally useless. The book says turn past 20 then turn back for desired darkness (eg toasting). The knob is so smooth, It is near impossible to turn the knob backwards. They should have put some sort of thumb handle in the middle of the nob. p.s. this unit does not have the rotisserie.
