The generator instruction manual was very well written and easy to follow. The funnel provided for adding the the oil made this task a breeze and no mess! The generator started on the 2nd pull and the data center made it easy to verify that the generator was producing the correct voltage before I attached it to my power transfer switch. Ran it unloaded for one hour per the instructions and then transferred load to it. Was pleasantly surprised with the relatively low noise level while running loaded.

I bought this 2 weeks ago. I am now in the break in. I plan to change the oil after the first use just to be safe. System started right up within seconds. The only thing I do not like is the oil fill is in an awkward position. I have not put the system under a load yet, but it runs smooth. Seems like it is efficient in using the fuel. The generator is fairly loud, but that is to be expected. I am glad I have it for bad weather. I have lost two freezers full of meat the last couple of years and do not plan for that to happen again. I also plan to use the system off road at my hunting property where I do not have electricity.

I purchased this generator to keep the lights on and protect 2 freezers and a refrigerator in case of power failure. I am able run the lights and equipment in my workshop, too. I replaced a 25 year old generator that was used intermittently but was hard to crank and was no longer dependable. I love this Westinghouse 5300. 2 pulls on the starter and it is up and running. It is so much quieter that I run it on the far side of my house and the neighbors can barely hear it. The other generator was extremely loud and I had to construct a baffle to keep it from annoying the whole neighborhood. Another thing I like about it is that if I run out of gas I can keep it running on the LP tanks I have for grilling and my camper. I look forward to getting many years of use from this new generator.

Although I haven't used the generator in a power outage, it was easy to assemble the wheels and feet, quick start guide was simple to follow and straight forward. I did a test run and everything seems to be functioning properly. The engine started immediately and ran smoothly. Highly recommend!

I bought this generator a few days ago. Came in quickly. Waiting on my electrician to wire up the side of the house to make it easy on my wife. This unit is electric start and will make my life easier when the power goes out. I work an hour away from home so having an electric start is great so my wife can get it going to power up the house

I bought this generator to run our garage freezer and refrigerator when we have bad thunderstorms or the occasional ice storm. I am not especially mechanically minded, but the set up instructions were clear and easy. I had it ready to fire up within 15 minutes. It started on the very first pull. I let it run for an hour as recommended and then plugged in the freezer. No problems. It seems to handle everything with ease. I can't comment on durability, as I just got it and have only run it the one time, but it looks and feels to be very sturdy. I've been very pleased.

Think unit was dropped. Frame bent and could not fold out the towing handle for moving it around. Had to unbolt it then put it back. Also air cleaner body had crack in it. Put gas in and it leaked all over the unit. The gas line hose had a hole in it where it connects to the sediment cup/shut off. Was able to clip the hose past the hole and reinstall. Too much trouble to return so will use as is. Other than the above it seem to run fine and started right up.

haven't had need yet. but am sure it will keep us going in an emergency. It was packaged well but pull starter housing was crushed, it's ok, i just pounded it out straight. can't even tell. Beautiful unit tho. started and ran great. Oh yeah, this was a gift from a friend

I just moved to an area where the power goes out often and for several days at a time. I bought this WGen5300 generator and I love it. It supplies my entire home including my well pump and hot water heater. As an older woman living alone, this is a very easy generator to use. Electric start with backup pull just in case. This generator has made my life easier and more worry free. Thank you Westinghouse!

We are first-time generator purchasers in our 70s. We just unboxed and got our generator started this week and found the instructions to be very clear. The machine is well-designed and very easy to move given the wheels and handle. We agree with other reviews that the most challenging part of getting it ready to start is the oil fill. Be sure to have a drip pan and paper towels nearby. Even with the supplied funnel, it is difficult to fill due to the location of the opening. We would give this product five stars, but we haven't used it yet. However, there is no reason to doubt that it won't meet our expectations in performance.
