Stay Away
I've had for less then two years. The tires constantly fall off leading to fertilizer spilling all over the causing burn spots. The valve stem on one of the tires fell off after one year!! The cost of a replacement seems to be nearly half the price of a new spreader. I love the options with this spreader and the ability to just put the Scotts fertilizer in turn the dial to the corresponding number as noted on the bag and going, but it is not worse all the trouble.

Worked well for 2 years, fell apart. Difficult to find parts for so far...might be going for something that is actually professional. Should not say pro, should say not pro.

Poor quality
The right wheel came off while the unit was loaded and i was spreading fertilizer. a cheap, plastic tube is the only thing holding the tire to the axle. i bet they dont offer a replacement part.

Total waste of money!
This is only the second season of use, and it is already broken. It started to show signs of issues with grass seed and fine textured starter fertilizer in late summer. Then it would hardly spread regular fertilizer in fall, and now it will not spread my winter fertilizer at all! If the hopper is empty, everything spins and seems to work fine. But if even just a little bit of fertilizer is put in, it will not spin and spread the product! I have thoroughly cleaned and inspected the gears and they visually look "ok". But there must be just enough wear that there is not enough "grip" to turn the awger and spinner...making the unit WORTHLESS! I (like many others) owned my previous Scotts (basic model) spreader for 20+ years, and only got rid of it because the Edgeguard Pro has double the hopper capacity as the previous spreader, the edgeguard feature looked handy, and this seemed much more of a "professional" spreader for the large lawn we have, that I thought would lasy for many years. I am SO terribly disappointed with this purchase, and am looking for another brand to purchase (this time I will check the reviews!) I simply trusted the Scotts name when I bought this one...BIG mistake!! I am so disappointed with this waste of money and time, I will also be looking for a different brand of fertilizer for the future! I was a 30 year loyal customer...but I am moving on!

Plastic Drive Parts - Uuughh!
I have respect for Scott's products and that is one reason why I spent a little more to buy their Pro Edgeguard spreader. I bought mine about 4 years ago and have repaired the agitator and drive mechanism for the third and final time this past week (08/2020). I like the idea of plastic parts to prevent the corrosion which inevitably happens to non-stainless steel metal parts on lawn spreaders. However, designers have missed the boat when they specify and design small and thin section plastic parts where relatively high wear and torque are in play. the drive medium from the gear on the axle up to the agitator are all plastic and have failed while in use spreading normal lawn chemicals. Pelletized lime is certainly more dense than grass seed but not much different than fertilizers. I expect the spreader to work flawlessly through many seasons to spread all of the dry materials used on lawns. Clearly this one was designed to break after only minimal usage. When the broadcast platter or the agitator fails to rotate, the spreader is useless. I am disappointed in Scott's design and marketing teams for allowing junk to go to market. You are better than that.

Plastic components are junk
After three or four seasons of spreading mostly Halts and Turf Builder, I expected the Scotts brand to hold up. Various plastic parts along with the plastic shroud on the edge guard disintegrated around the hole that drives the broadcast mechanism - now all I get is click-click-click. I purchased this to replace a Scotts drop spreader I had had for many years, with the idea that the broadcast spreader would get the job done in less time with far fewer passes. At least the old metal drop spreader held up well. Scotts needs to re-think the robustness of the components for this. And the pneumatic tires are another ridiculous feature - it's a SPREADER, NOT a Boeing 747! Now I have to figure out how to repair this and spend time looking around for parts. There's a certain irony in this, that Scotts sells this spreader presumably to spread its own weed, fertilizer, and seed products, and the spreader fails under homeowner light use. I was spreading the new Weedex (what was wrong with the established, decades old "Halts" brand?) when this went. Not good. I had to resort to their little hand-held broadcast spreader to do my entire yard.

One Year . . . Ugh!
I have had this spreader for approximately one year and from almost the get go it has been useless. The spreader is dropping fertilizer at an exponential rate. For example, I used a bag that was advertised to cover 15,000 square feet on a lot less than 5,000 square feet. I barely finished the job before running out of product. I am now told the spreader cannot be calibrated and needs to be replaced. This is unacceptable.

Got it for the air filled tires
I had previously Edgeguard Dlx. I stepped up and purchased the pro version because of the air filled tires. I had used it for the first time, the both wheels will not stay attached. I had made sure the cap ends was secured inside the wheels. Not a happy camper. I had to fertilized my yard by hand.
