Good spreader but no replacement parts available.!

I got the spreader 2 years ago and it works just fine but the stand in the back which is made of a cheap metal broke off so now I have to lean it up on something to get it to stand up so I can pour in fertilizer or seeds... Looked online and no replacement parts are available that I can find... just super inconvenient.

I bought this to replace my 6 year old generic spreader. There is a dark green streak in my yard which seems to be where I walked with the spreader. I went the opposite way once again and now I have green streaks the other way, and I did use Scotts fertilizer. Very disappointed with Scotts.

Broke after 1 season

I bought the "Pro" model fall of last year. Seem to work fine until I wanted to out down a couple bags of Milorganite. After the first bag went down I reloaded then "crack!", the spreader underneath broke off from the bottom of the wagon. Of all things, milorganite. I had to hand spread what was in the wagon. Not happy. Not happy at all

An Expensive Piece of Garbage!

I bought this primarily because of the Scotts name, but I neglected to read the reviews on this product. The drive wheel locks and nothing comes out, then it will work sending uneven globs of fertilizer onto the lawn - I always use Scotts fertilizers with my spreader. The same thing happens with Ice Melter. I thoroughly wash and dry the spreader regardless of what product was in it, and it is stored in a heated garage. The only good thing that came about it is that my neighbour will not borrow it to fertilize a cemetery plot anymore!

Poor quality beefed up price tag

I bought this spreader for two main reasons, edge guard and rubber air filled tires. Within two uses the edge guard broke and no longer retracted or went into place via the control handle. From that point on I needed to do it manually. The second spring using this product it has become completely useless because the rotary agitator for the hopper broke. I would not spend the money. Next time I am spending the extra 20-40 dollars and getting a better built item such as an earth way.

Owned for three years, two seasons of use

Unit works great initially, but after two seasons of use the agitator in the hopper isn't working anymore. A season equates to about six uses. Kind of ticked that after twelve to fifteen uses the darn thing is broken. This is the third one I've owned as the same thing happened with the first two, but they at least lasted three or four seasons. I

Don't be fooled by the tires

Bought what I thought would be an upgrade to the one I owned previously (plastic wheels). I was sadly mistaken. Headed into my 4th year of less than normal usage, but better than average maintenance, and find both tires wont hold air. Upon further inspection, both valve stems are broken/cracked...in the same location (inside bend). Sure, I live in the northeast and yes, this thing sat in my shed all winter - with zero air in the tires. NO idea how a metal valve stem would crack, especially with the way this wheel is set up. I guess I'll find another manufacturer OR go back to using the Scott's entry level spreader...paid 3x as much for this one and got 3 years (vs 2 for the cheap one). Simple math...spending more doesn't always result in a better product. Scott's should market these things as a single year only product...they'd have more long term revenue and less irritated customers.

Works great until it doesn't...

This is only the beginning of the third season using this spreader and it broke. It appears that the connector running through the spinner to expel product has broken. Last year I had also noticed that the tires didn't always rotate smoothly so perhaps that fed into this issue. My original standard model lasted 10 years. Disappointed to say the least. I do not recommend.

Irritated by poor quality
2 out of 5 stars review

Not worth what I paid.

I'm saddened that this has so many issues. I have a DLX edge guard rotary. First, when applying fertilizer, you do so on damp grass. Plastic wheels do not grip wet grass! Second, the calibration is a complete joke! When set to the setting on the Scotts bag, I can fertilize an entire acre with one 15000 bag! If I'm not mistaken, I should need 3 bags to cover an acre. On my second year and am considering modifying the wheels to actually grip and not just slide on the grass and hope for better results.

Do not waste your money

The quality of this spreader is not worth the money. After 2 uses the tire is flat and won't hold air and actually rolled off the rim. Axle shaft rusting badly even though I was and blow dry after both uses. There are far better spreaders for the money.
