Long lasting.

Bought a black and white laser printer due to the high cost of color printer ink. The TN660 refill toner cartridge is the larger capacity cartridge. I don’t do a lot of printing and it lasts close to a year. It is a cheaper way to go if you don’t need color, but is still expensive. It starts sending "low toner" messages for about six weeks and then just shuts down. It seems like there is still toner in the cartridge but it won’t print anymore and has to be replaced. Kinda annoying!

Hi, I understand how frustrating it is receiving" Low Toner". Brother strongly recommends that customers use only genuine Brother drum units and/or toner cartridges. Each Brother laser printer is designed to work at pre-set temperatures that are matched exactly to each of our individual toner formulations. Each individual component is designed to work with the other to ensure quality and reliability. Using non-Brother supplies may affect the hardware performance, print quality, and machine reliability. The Brother limited warranty does not apply to any problem that is caused by the use of third party drum units, toner cartridges, or toner. Please contact customer support by Email or Live Chat for additional steps that may help. https://www.brother-usa.com/brother-support

Printer MFRs Lie on the Capacity page count

My starter cartridge on the L2320D came no where near the 700 pages Brother advertises I got maybe `100 pages with no graphics and no fine print. Brother will say it all depends and I read they follow ISO standards. But the starter toner came no where near being sufficient.

We understand your Brother TN660 cartridge did not last long. We'd like to help. The stated page yields for genuine Brother cartridges are based on the ISO testing standards. The number of pages that can be printed with a cartridge is affected by several factors, including paper size, number of pages per print job, amount of print on each page, font size, and print content (graphics, charts, etc.). Print jobs with large text fonts, graphics, charts, and/or large amount of solid coverage (black or any given color) will use much more toner and will shorten the life of the toner cartridge. If you have any questions about your Brother Genuine cartridge, please contact Brother customer service: https://www.brother-usa.com/brother-support

Paying more toner and less for the printer. Bad!

Getting customers to pay more for the toner and less for the printer appears to be the strategy used by most printer makers. Some successfully. Others not successfully. Brother is just another of those printer makers who expect you to shed up to 800% per year of the price you paid for your printer. Not quite a great business proposal for heavy users and small businesses.

Poor Performance from TN660 and Starter Cartridges

My TN660 cartridge only printed between approximately 175 pages of mostly letters and lists It didn't come close to 2,600 pages. My initial starter cartridge only printed 75 pages versus the 700 estimated pages. I purchase the MFC-L2700DW based upon a Brother basic laser printer used for 12 years. The cartridges for the basic Brother laser printer cartridges lasted for the perdictated number of copies. The MFC-L2700DW has given me very poor cartridge life.

Cradle to grave replacement cartridge process

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These cartridges seem to last forever, but when it was time for a replacement, I bought the Brother cartridge and was delighted by the simple process to return the spent/empty cartridge back to the manufacturer in the packaging. No waste going in the trash.

Lasts way less then it states so

I bought it thinking it was going to last me about a year because I barely print documents. It is for home use and we don't print that much. I usually buy the standard yield but I though it was a good idea to buy the high yield so it could last longer and that is not true. It last the same or even less than the standard one.

I am happy with the ease of the product.

I have been using this HL-L2360 Brother Laser printer going on 6 years now and, I am very pleased with its Reliability that it gives as well as the yield of the Tones giving me around 2600 sheets. I find that the toner TN-660 gives me what, I want pulse a little bit more from time to time. For my personal printer toner wise the price is right for me.

Too pricey

One can use generic ones (found out after I bought this one) for a third of the cost of this one. My thinking is: Since using my Brother printer (new, out of the box) can NOT create top professional prints, then why should I use this expensive toner?
