Not 2,600 pages. Maybe 500...maybe.

The product description says it yields 2,600 pages, but that is likely based on very light coverage. I might have gotten one ream (500) pages with standard to medium coverage. Also, I might have gotten a lemon, so I am ordering another one and if I get the same results, I might try an off-brand. Not sure what I would have to lose.

The right stuff

This is the toner that is made by the printer's manufacturer. It works well in the printer. The quality of toners that others put in after-market cartridges does not function as well as this one does. My only gripe is the price. Though better, it does not seem appropriate to cost 2-3x more to get the manufacturer's cartridge.

OEM CART. LASTED OVER 4 YEARS!!!

Bought this printer because I was tired of spending money on color printers and I rarely need color copies. INSTALLED cartridge October 23, 2016 and it DIED May 4, 2021. All I can say is WOW! I may have needed to print color copies 6 times and used my wife's printers. I spent $70 on the cartridge back then. Along the way, it seemed like it was out of ink and there was a hack on YouTube that fixed this and I got almost 2 more years out of it. DO NOT THROW AWAY the first time it seems to be out of ink. Like someone said, it does not really look as if it is going out of ink but at some point I wondered if it was because it seemed lighter. It never got worse and all of a sudden yesterday it just stopped and nothing worked... no indication... just while I was printing a 70 page presentation. Was I angry... HECK NO! I'm sure when I pop in a new cartridge and compare the prints against some of my recent prints it will be obvious it was on the way out BUT they were perfectly fine to read etc. and I squeezed every drop of ink out of it. I probably spent more on PAPER!

Too pricey

One can use generic ones (found out after I bought this one) for a third of the cost of this one. My thinking is: Since using my Brother printer (new, out of the box) can NOT create top professional prints, then why should I use this expensive toner?

Printer MFRs Lie on the Capacity page count

My starter cartridge on the L2320D came no where near the 700 pages Brother advertises I got maybe `100 pages with no graphics and no fine print. Brother will say it all depends and I read they follow ISO standards. But the starter toner came no where near being sufficient.

reply from Brother Customer Service

We understand your Brother TN660 cartridge did not last long. We'd like to help. The stated page yields for genuine Brother cartridges are based on the ISO testing standards. The number of pages that can be printed with a cartridge is affected by several factors, including paper size, number of pages per print job, amount of print on each page, font size, and print content (graphics, charts, etc.). Print jobs with large text fonts, graphics, charts, and/or large amount of solid coverage (black or any given color) will use much more toner and will shorten the life of the toner cartridge. Hl-l23800w, very happy with how long toner lasts

You whiners should go back to inkjets, and who counts how many sheets you get out of a cartridge, i have 2 teenagers that loves to print and these last a lot longer than any i have owned, and i have owned a few since windows 3.0, its been a great product for 3 years and i have no complaints about how long the toner lasts.

I printed at least 2,000 pages easily.

I think some of these reviews are fake. I own a tutoring center, and I honestly print 10+ pages per day. times 5 work per week...that is 2,600 pages, which makes sense because I changed it once a year at most. Also! I stretch the life by printing only 300dpi, black and white, and no graphics, just textbooks, math worksheets, contracts, etc.

Long lasting.

Bought a black and white laser printer due to the high cost of color printer ink. The TN660 refill toner cartridge is the larger capacity cartridge. I don’t do a lot of printing and it lasts close to a year. It is a cheaper way to go if you don’t need color, but is still expensive. It starts sending "low toner" messages for about six weeks and then just shuts down. It seems like there is still toner in the cartridge but it won’t print anymore and has to be replaced. Kinda annoying!

without color, I don't print as much

New full-size toner prints great black & whites. Great economical move from my HP color printer that needed new heads after less than 3 years, but I printed A LOT MORE with its BEAUTIFUL color copies. In black & white, I find that I don't print as many things - just basics, nothing for fun. But the lack of fuss and mess with color ink cartridges is not missed at all. It was VERY EASY to change the toner cartridge!!! I am very happy with my Brother Laser Printer.
