Whoever designed this did a great job! Yeah, it takes D batteries to operate the lid but it's sturdy and it's not going anywhere. And the motion activated feature where the lid pops up allows you to dump your trash in hands-free and you can actually fit the amount of trash that you need to into this trash can. We use a 30 gallon trash bag even though it's a 21 gallon container and it fits so much more trash and it we don't have to take the trash out every day like we used to - it's wonderful!

I was worried about how responsive this would be, but the lid opens quickly once you trigger the sensor. Be aware that this item won't work well in tight spaces where walking too close to it will accidentally trigger the sensor. The sensor area is small and above the can, but if you walk too close to the front of it then your arm might trigger the sensor.

I've had mine for over two years. Still works just fine. I DID ...however... have to reinforce the battery cavity with a piece of thick, hard cardboard .inserted tightly... with duct tape... because the battery cover fell into the trash within the first year and was forever lost...(probably because my son usually takes out the trash and doesn't do it with care). The battery can slip loose when you take the top off consistently to get the trash bag out of the can. You have to make sure that the battery stays ALL THE WAY INSERTED.. which could help some of the people who are giving this product a poor review. I don't give up so easily and I guess I'm mechanically inclined. Hope that help some of you.

We received our trash can with tape over top of box that had been retapped. That should had been the first red flag, but then opened box and the wrap was off the can. But, I went ahead and tried to use and guess what….didn’t work. Next time, if a customs returns an item that doesn’t work, maybe it don’t work!!!

I've been using this for about a month and I'm very happy with it. It is larger capacity, which is great but it is hard to find trash bags that fit it. I am using bags that are a lot larger but that really isn't a big deal. You have to place your hand very close to the sensor on the top for it to open but it opens very quickly and closes on it's own. Also, it needs D batteries to operate and it does not come with them so plan ahead and buy them before it is delivered.

A very good trash can, large and nice looking, with automatic lid opening function. The only problem - it uses old style batteries (D), which are expensive. Would be good if producer put there rechargeable battery, charging from USB. Then it would be the best trash can you want.

Love how the lid blocks out orders, and is easy to push the open button when I am skinning potatoes and close when done. The automatic function is great and works well for a fast dump. This is the biggest I could find at 22 gallons. I wish it were a little bigger for my big family, but it has worked great!

I love the garbage can I bought four of them now? Never have to touch a garbage can just wave your hand above it. It opens up and automatically shut just watch. If you have a smart dog he wants to run his nose across it so he can open the lid never garbage can only. This one

The one I recently bought is my second one in about three years...I love this trash can...it opens and closes without touching it...remains open long enough to rid your hands of the garbage...large enough to handle a good deal of trash...my first is still working...just moved it to the garage after much use

Love it. I always use 30 gallon bags in my old 50lt pail so I was only ably to fill the bag half full. Now the bag fits this pail perfectly so i will be saving a lot of money on bags. Like the large opening which makes throwing away large things easy. Recommended it to my kids.
