I have had my unit for about four years, and it works just as advertised. Other people reported problems with the unit, but I believe they may have dead batteries, set the bag retaining ring into the unit incorrectly, are using the wrong size plastic trash bags or no bags at all. The secrets to good operation: don't mess with the lid or try to open it by hand. Keep the unit clean. Don't immerse it in water or spray it clean with a hose. And don't overfill the can and push down on the lid. I keep mine as shined up as my other stainless steel kitchen appliances, and it works great for me. This makes a great housewarming gift, as long as the recipients are not STUPID!

Love the size, look, and quality of this trashcan, but every time the lid opens the awful trash odor escapes and overwhelming fumes fills the room. How do you control this. Regular trash cans have lids but does not seem to so air tight where the odors trapped. Please advise.

I purchased this about 2 months ago. It worked about 1 week and stopped. I did everything it suggested to try and fix it nothing worked. Have to manually open and close it. It certainly is not worth the price. I have to leave open alot and you can smell the trash inside. Do not recommend at all. My son has one that is awesome and that's why I purchased this one, but his us a different brand. His uses 2 AA where this one uses 3DD.

I had high hopes for this trash can, considering all the positive reviews. What a disappointment. This trash can is literally that, trash. Mainly because of the way the bag fits (or doesn’t) in the van itself. There’s a ring that the bag goes around; a thin, flimsy plastic ring. The ring does not fit the bag. Issue number one. Issue number two: the ring is held in place by the lid. In the event you remove the lid, the trash bag AND whimsical plastic ring fall into the can. The ring has since broken. It’s been two weeks. Sure, the lid works and the can is stainless, but what does that matter if it isn’t functional? I would’ve been less upset had we just thrown away $60 than buying this garbage. Save your money, or spend a bit more for something that isn’t trash.

LOVE this trashcan!! I didn't know it was possible to love a trashcan, lol. The sensor lid is awesome and very responsive. Love the finger print-ready stainless. And the size is wonderful!!! It's so nice to have a trashcan bigger than 13 gallons! Overall, very happy with this purchase. Would purchase again in a heartbeat.

I have a small bathroom size one of these and it has been flawless in operation. I decided to go for the big 21 gallon kitchen one. Same outcome. These are well made and last. I like the option of going manual mode. Push button to open. It stays open until you push the close button. The automatic mode is good too. Ours is close to the stove so it often is triggered to open when we didn't mean to. No big deal. The batteries last a long time.I cannot fault this device except it does not have a hard plastic insert can and the bag tries to catch on the metal rim as you remove the bag. Some tape on the lip may fix it.

I like the trash can itself... I struggle to find bags to fit it! Unless you want to use the brand that samples were given with purchase. My other dislike is removing the olastic ring everytine you go to change the bag... if tou could use the gripper bags the ring wouldnt be necessary, but since those dont fit......

I love the look and ease of this trash can! The only downside is that it doesnt come with the initial (3) D batteries and no sample bags. I had to go to the actual companys site to order the bags and have yet to receive them. I use the standard 30gal. Bags which works great! The 13gal. bags DO NOT FIT so dont waste your time trying those as i tried every way. Other than that this trash can is nothing short of amazing and the price tag compared to simple human is astonishing!

I am wondering about replacement parts?? I Purchased mine in the box had been opened and then stapled back shed and I didn’t pay attention to it till later a friend told me that it was supposed to have a ring that fit under the lid that held the bag in place and mine did not come with that I am wondering where I can obtain the replacement part

So I bought this because of the gallon size which you have to buy special bags for which is a box for $10.00. My only complaint is every time we walk by this can the lid opens and it has become annoying. You can turn the motion sensor off but it defeats the purpose of the $80 trash can. Batteries NOT included
