Customer reviews for SAMSUNG 70" Class TU700D-Series Crystal Ultra HD 4K Smart TV UN70TU700DFXZA forI thought it was going to be great...
i wanted a smart tv that no longer needed a 3rd party device to watch youtube and such. boy were we disappointed. the tizen user interface is as slow as aol dialup internet. just try to do anything in the menus and it takes 10-30 seconds for the tv to respond to your remote input. the only positive is the picture quality is amazing! however the hdmi to soundbar control is buggy and doesn't always work right, when using the optical cable the volume control randomly stops working and randomly starts working again. i can't wait to get a different brand tv
Great 4K TV
I have been using for a week now with no issues. After reading other reviews I decided not to use the Smart functions of this TV. Instead I am using an NVIDIA Shield TV. Everything works great so far. Picture is bright, colors are vivid and HDR seems to be working great. One piece of advice I would give is make sure, if you are using an external smart device. Make sure your HDMI cable is at least HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2.
You Get What You Pay For...
I gave this 3 stars as the TV functions as it should and it's my fault that I didn't do my homework. It was the last one left at the store I was at a couple days ago and the last one in my area. It was a good price, so I jumped on it. I was under the assumption that all 4k TV's were running at 120 hz at this point - had no idea new 60hz TV's were still being made. I kept messing with the picture as my nearly 11 year old 1080p 240hz Samsung 55 in. looked better. Well, that 240hz is why. When I read the specs online I was shocked to see the refresh rate at 60hz ('motion rate 120' is just gimmicky buzzword speak to sell low grade TV's like 'blast processing' was used to sell Sega Genesis for those old enough to remember). I still love Samsung, and I will be getting a better TV from the brand when I can. If I had known the refresh rate was only 60hz I would have never considered getting this (really wish the store I was at had the full specs on the product card... But yeah, my fault). If you don't play video games or aren't super picky when it comes to image quality in movies, this TV is fine. If you do play games and are concerned about image quality in your movies well, with electronics you get what you pay for.
Brian81: Thank you for your review of the TU7000. When you use Auto Game Mode, your screen will automatically optimize your screen giving you a smoother gaming experience without motion blur and judder. Go to Settings > General > External Device Manager > Game Mode I hope this improves your gaming experience. OK
samsung's app access is not user-friendly. not intuitive and not easy to access when you have numerous regularly used apps. sound is terrible (not a big deal for most like me with a home theater system anyway). brightness and especially light/dark contrast is poor. still playing with color settings, but the presets are not helpful.
KP021: I’m sorry to hear that you’re not fully satisfied with the app access and brightness of your TU7000 TV. I am sorry to hear that you are not happy with the brightness levels of your picture. If the colors on your TV are correct but just a little too dark or bright you can try the different Picture Modes or manually adjust the Brightness settings to your liking. Dynamic Picture Mode will make pictures brighter and clearer in bright viewing environments. Go to: Settings > Picture > Picture Mode > Dynamic Or manually adjust the Brightness and other settings to your liking. Press the HOME button on your remote, then navigate to: Settings > Picture > Expert Settings You may also want to disable Power Saving Mode which automatically adjusts the brightness to reduce the TV’s power consumption. Go to Settings> General> Eco Solution> Power Saving Mode. Ambient Light Detection will also automatically adjust the brightness level of the TV, according to the ambient light level, to reduce power consumption. If Ambient Light Detection has adjusted the screen brightness to a too bright or dark level, you can select Minimum Brightness to manually adjust the minimum screen brightness. Go to Settings> General> Eco Solution> Ambient Light Detection Please also be sure you are running the latest firmware. You can check to see what software version your TV is using and if there is an available update through the settings on your TV. Go to: Settings>Support>Software Update. You may want to enable automatic updates for convenience. Select Settings > Support > Software Update, then select Auto Update. I hope this helps to improve your picture. Should you need further assistance with app access or with image troubleshooting, please contact Samsung Customer Support. Stunning picture quality!
What are these reviews talking about??? This tv picture is absolutely gorgeous! I only buy Samsung tv's they are top notch. This one I bought for my covered lanai and the picture is stunning. Only complaint would be tat volume gets lost outside, but it's not an outside branded tv... My sonos took care of that! Highly recommended! And all of my apps work fine on this tv. lol
Poor performance. Would not recommend Samsung
I bought this tv less than 3 years ago and it already having issues powering on. Sometimes it takes 5-30 minutes to turn on. Once it is on it works fine, but very disappointed that this model isn't working properly. Contacted Samsung support via email with no response. Called the Samsung support # and the representative walked me through some troubleshooting, but couldn't fix the issue. Now I'm stuck with a 58” tv that won't turn on when I want it to. They suggested I call for repair service, which would cost as much as I paid for the tv.
Dead after a year
Was a decent TV for the price when it worked. Unfortunately a year and 2 months after purchasing, it's essentially dead. It will not power on. I've tried every trick with no success. The little red light flashes, so it's receiving power. Just can't fully turn on, stays black screen. Happened out of the blue, nothing triggered it. Very frustrating, huge waste of money. A TV should last much longer than a year.
Tizen terrible Samsung forces apps
the tizen operating system is slow and has very few features. many of the settings you would want exposed just arent available or are turned on by some other setting that you may not want to enable as well. it's too easy to end up in amazon prime or some other streaming service that paid samsung for a favorable position on screen. this tv is basically a better quality vizio with worse software. let me remove the samsung tv app. i don't use it and it's annoying. for that matter, why are the apps arranged the way samsung wants them instead of me? the person who paid for this tv. i should be able to set the icon i'm most likely to hit on accident because the remote is laggy. all said, i will most likely never purchase another samsung because of this tv.
Great TV for an amazing price
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this TV over a year ago when I was moving cities, wanted a big screen without having to expend the premium cost on it. I'm highly surprise by the quality of the TV specially for what I paid for. The images is high quality even when playing video games and the sound is perfect for a small apartment. The extra channels that Samsung provides are a plus since we don't pay for cable but can access it for free. Overall great purchase.
Decent Screen, TERRIBLE PROCESSOR!!!
I have a larger Samsung TV and was very impressed by the robust performance of the native apps and apps that you can get from the App Store (although I'll caveat that by mentioning that I did have to return that TV to the store three times because of how slow the processes worked (laggy, would take a whole minute for any remote control command to work. This TV has a similar issue running applications such as Netflix, Hulu, Apple TV, and others. I bought this TV to serve primarily as my new home-office display ( and to watch TV from to kill the time in between tasks, if I'm being honest). The TV will work fine if you're hooking it to a laptop or desktop. If you're buying this TV to...well...watch TV and so you don't have to use an off the shelf box (like Roku, Apple TV set top, Chromecast, etc), then you'll be TERRIBLY DISAPPOINTED. You would think that if Samsung wants to market a TV as Smart, they would pay more attention to quality control and performance of their Smart Features. Everything running directly from the TV just disappoints. The user interface for every app is rendered in low resolution (yes, I checked my settings. I also compared the same apps on the same TV with third party app services). I can overlook that the app interfaces all run in low resolution, as long as the actual video is rendered in HD. What I can't overlook, is how laggy the TV gets when you run any app. This TV struggles to play video while handling simple functions such as..say.. changing the volume or a channel. So...here I am...using a “Smart TV” as simply a monitor.
The_One_True_Bob, Thank you for your purchase and review. The interface issue you are describing may be related to your network connection and quality. We suggest you try the following: 1. Use 5G WiFi if possible 2. Try wired LAN if available 3. Try repositioning the router so there are no obstacles between your TV and the router I hope this helps to solve your concerns.
