Disappointed in Meat Dept.

Very disappointed in the stew meat this time! On the bottom (of course) the pieces were not cut through and the thin layer of film were still attached plus grizzzle and fat!!!!

Disappointed

I have ordered stew meat from Sam's several times before and have always been pleased. This time the meat was very fatty, barely trimmed and the meat was not cut through. There was no consistancy to the cut. Very disappointing.

Package weight

I'm terrible disappointed that the package of stew meat I bought said it weighed 2.81 pounds but when I weighed it at home because my recipe only called for 2 pounds it only weighed 2.13 pounds. Probably why you don't see any scales in the Grand Forks ND store anywhere.

Awful!!!

I normally buy this alot and it's decent. However I bought it a few days ago and there was more unuseable fat/gristle hidden under the top meat that I would have thought possible. I called the store. She said I could bring it back but what a hassel.. So I guess I learned my lesson and won't buy this again from Sams. What a waste of $21 bucks!!!

Actual chunks were GIANT and FATTY

If only the stew meat you buy actually looked like the picture here! What we bought was nothing like those small, lean pieces. Ours was full of very large to giant chunks and even strips of meat that it required us to go through all 4 lbs and reprocess almost every chunk into smaller pieces which was very time consuming. The butchers at Sam's were obviously very lazy. In the end, the beef was tender and delicious.

Lots of trimming needed

This came in my delivery order, had to trim gristle and veins, about a pound wasted. Not sure I will buy this again unless I inspect it before buying. Two stars for what remained, I made goulash with it. Too much work prepping the meat that I could use.

Heavy on Fat/Gristle

Bought 5 lb package. By the time I trimmed off the fat and gristle I ended up with 3.50 lbs. of meat. Quality of meat at Sam's has hit rock bottom. I will no longer be purchasing meat from Sam's but I will go to a real meat market for my proteins. Countryside right down the road may be more expensive, but you get quality meat that is not alll fat and gristle.

The BEST stew beef money can buy !

I'm going to say we have purchased 40-50 packages of stew beef from Sam's over the past few years and always and I mean always top quality stew beef. My wife usually breaks the package up into 3 separate packages and freezes the other 2. So she is going to make a beef stew for this weekend and we are all out so we are going to run over to Sam's this morning and get another package and a package of the 88/12 hamburger meat which is always top quality to !

Not Good Cuts

While there was a lot of meat in the package, the cuts were not good. Instead of diced stew meat, at least half of the package was made up of large flat pieces. I figured this would be okay when cooked down, but after being in a crockpot all day for beef stew, the meat is still tough and almost gristly. Not a single piece cooked down to be tender. I don't know if this was just a bad batch or something, but it has deterred me from buying my stew meat from here in the future.
