My refrigerator was purchased in July 2018 and after just over five years the freezer isn’t working and the ice machine will not make ice. I loved the refrigerator up until now and would have recommended it but for obvious reasons, I do not feel confident in purchasing another with the linear compressor.

Ice and water work great, fingerprintless front finish is amazing (though NOT magnetic, so good opportunity for that stuff to go elsewhere!) Layout of drawers is perfect for our needs - family of 2 humans, a cat and dog (they have their own shelf for their goodies.)

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this unit since July of 2018, and it worked really well till November of 2021 when the compressor stopped working. On the morning of the day the LG tech came out the compressor started working by itself out of the blue after not working for a couple of days. The tech updated the firmware and did a routine check of the entire unit. Fast forward to June of 2022 (8 months later) and the compressor stops working again. This time it completely fails. Called LG tech support and they sent out the same tech (who btw was very polite and answered all my questions.) I asked him what causes a compressor to go out twice on a unit that is a little over 4 years old. He mentioned that some of these compressors have issues from the factory and that it's an industry wide problem/issue (other manufactures have the same compressor issue - AKA, they don't make compressors like they used to back in the day). Good thing LG has a warranty that is 5 years labor and 10 years for the compressor. Overall, LG did help me out and since I lost many food and medical items that were in the unit both times, LG sent me a check to cover the losses.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve had this refrigerator for 3.5 and it has worked very good, just recently the compressor failed, Lg handled the service, the repairs were made in a timely manner and the serviceman was professional and in formative, LG-stands behind their products!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Lg did replace compressor for free, but I did lose $350 worth of food! Besides that issue, I do really love this refrigerator. Its the perfect size and looks amazing. lets hope it continues to work with no issues!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We purchased the LG French Door refrigerator a couple of years ago and have enjoyed the spaciousness and versatility it offers. We did experience one problem with the cooling system that was totally repaired by LG, even though we were out of the regular warranty.

It is so much roomier than our old side by side and the French door design is easy to see everything I need. The only ‘critique’ ( not complaint) is that I did not know that magnets could not be used on the black stainless steel. Other than that it was a great purchase!

Of course, the true test of any appliance is how well is it performing years from now. We really like the space to store all our food items, the flexibility of the drawers and shelves and the mid drawer for popular frozen items. Much better than one large drawer on the bottom that you have to plough through to get something. The stainless steel seems easy to clean and not terrible about showing fingerprints. Bright interior, nice lighting. We're very satisfied at this point. The only hitch so far is that the small "flap" that supposed to close between the two doors is finicky and doesn't always close. If this wasn't the case, would rater it a 5 instead of a 4. We probably will have to have this looked at. Ice maker and cold water device is working fine.
