Great generator for backup power

We purchased this generator when our power went out in the recent power failures in Texas. Our power was out for 25 hours and the temps. where in the single digits. I connected our furnace and several lights as well as running an extension cord to my neighbor so he could run his furnace as well. It handled everything with no problems! It had power to spare. What a great lifesaver! Thank you Westinghouse!

Powerful Generator, Easy Set-Up, Relatively Quiet

Purchased this generator following my last generator giving out during a power outage. Generator is very easy to set up with good instruction manual. Battery came charged and was easy to connect. Remote control for easy starting easy to connect. Have not fully placed a ton of load on it yet but it is more quiet than my prior generator that was rate at 5000W. This generator is also more quiet than other generators I have heard rate at the same wattage. Good build quality and easy to move once wheels are installed. Started up easily with first pull and required less effort than my gas powered lawnmower. The remote control start and electric start via the button also started the generator on first try as well. Overall will recommend to anyone needing a generator of this power.

Like Having Your Own Power Station

Received the delivery of my W9500 generator just days before the first of most likely winter power outages in Northern New England. The electric start makes it easy to fire up the generator and even easier with the remote start. I don't even have to go outside and free my backside off to start the thing and get my house up and running (so that has touches of hyperbole, but it beats the heck out of pulling those ridiculous start cord that destroys my shoulder and leaves me suffering the humiliation and frustration of getting old and weak). Would I purchase this again? Uh, yes. Would I buy a second just because -- uh yes. While I haven't put it through a significant long term power outage, it provided days of heat and barely made it obvious the power went out. Now, if only it could re-fuel itself so I never have to leave the warmth of my New England Home in the winter. A couple of key things to note if you are interested in buying this generator. 1. It is heavy -- about 250lbs. But, the wheels work. So, if you can drag fat guy with an ankle injury off a trail or a pro football player off the field after an injury, you can lug this around and place it where you need it. 2. Is it a good lookin' machine -- It's blue, of course, it looks good. 3. Does it feel well built? Well, I haven't hit it with a hammer or dropped it out of my truck, but it seems well built (and seems unlikely that the bolts will vibrate themselves out when running. 4. Is it quiet? It's a generator. I don't have it in my house (and hopefully you weren't thinking you might do that) so it ain't too bad. You can hear running outside but it doesn't prevent me from watching movies (when I am sitting in the cold of winter, powerless, using the generator to save my soft, first-world lifestyle). 5. Is the remote key fob junk? Actually, it's a pretty nice key fob. It isn't the quality you'd get from a German-engineered auto -- but it is durable, easy to use, and it comes with a clip so you can hook it on something. Is it easy to find when you open the box? No, not really. I guess if you're the type of person that looks for objects zip tied to your tools, then YES. In short, don't panic if you don't find it in the box -- it's strapped with a zip tie to the actual generator. 6. Can it be set up when it's below freezing outside? Yes, but it's cold. 7. Does the battery come fully charged? Yes, but make sure you hook the cables or you will be sitting there for hours trying to figure out why the gosh darn thing won't start. I am not saying I did this, I am just saying 8. Can you trickle charge the battery? Yes. It even comes with a trickle charge plug -- if you're partial to using the slick little plugins versus hooking your battery cables up the old fashioned way. In short, worth the buy. Good product. Can't wait to see how else I might be able t use it -- maybe a snow cone stand in the summer.

Excellent All the Way Around

Delivered in perfect condition. 15 minutes to assemble, add oil and fuel up. Started right away and ran quieter than expected. Key Fob worked. By the way, this generator is just a push of a button for 2 seconds and release. It turns over the starter a few times and if no start then tries again every few seconds. Also, it automatically opens choke as it warms up. Great surprises.

Great Purchase

So far we are very pleased with our purchase. The WGen9500c has the power we need to support our home. Setup was easy, the operating process is easy to follow, the price was great and the design looks great. We live in Florida and having a reliable generator during hurricane season is very much needed

Great Product: easy set up

I had this delivered to my home and it was easy to set up and get going. Everything was explained in the quick guide. It even included oil and a fuel funnel! (But no fuel, obviously.) Within an hour we had it in place, running, and powering the house.

Feels good to have a backup plan if needed!

Living on the Gulf Coast in Texas all my life, I have experienced many hurricanes and most recently last year, power outages due to freezing temps. In the past I purchased 2, 2000 watt , 115volt generators, mainly for refrigerators and freezers. Now I have “whole house” protection. Feels good to know I have plenty of backup, hope I never have to use it.

Good for home.

Generator works well for 1500 square-foot home. Generator is easy to use Put together and to understand. Weston house is a well-known company with good products and this is one of them. I will purchase this generator again if I had to or other Western House products.

Built well

It was easy to set up until I got to the "make sure the eco button is switched off". I looked all over and there is no eco button on my model. I didn't want to hurt the generator. And for the life of me, I cannot think of a single reason why you would need a remote fob for the generator? A generator needs so much one on one attention, that I think a remote start key fob is useless and just added to the cost. It started right up and sounds great! I believe I have made a very good purchase here.

Works great so far.

We bought this generator because of several loss of power events during the last few years. I completed the installation yesterday and so far it works great. We really like the electric start and it fits perfectly into a location just out the back of the house.
