This is a very good option for home home backup. It runs everything on my transfer switch, which keeps the house functioning during a power outage. Keep in mind that to truly exploit the wattage output you need to be using a 30 amp or 50 amp connection. I have heard people say that this will not run much more than a refrigerator, but that is simply not true. When paired with a transfer switch, this generator can run all that you need to get through a power outage. Wish it was a little quieter, but I lover all very good.

We use this Westinghouse (WGen9000) as a replacement to the Wgen7500 that we lost in a forest, Both have performed extremely well. This has been used with an offgrid setup, providing power for tools like welders and plasma cutters, also quickly topping up batteries for a solar system on rainy days. Cannot recommend enough.

Purchased the gas powered WGen9500 to backup our home. It has enough power to keep our refrigerators, freezer, hot tub and furnace up and running in those just in case we need it power outages, especially in winter. Pleased with the features and quality.

Very pleased with the build quality of this generator. It seems very well built and has a ton of extra features that I didn’t even know about. The remote start is nice and the electric start battery is fully included and works great! Like other reviews mention, make sure to check the oil level after you put what is included in the engine. I bought 2 of these and they both filled up to the top of the L mark on the dipstick, so I added a bit extra to get it further up the dipstick on both units. Overall excellent generator at an even better price compared to other brands!

This gen took 25 days beyond the website proposed delivery date; thus the 4stars. This is a nice gen able to run all the house, with some reasonable planning. Paid an electrician to install a hookup, and interconnect safety switches, and now the gen just plugs into a single 50a plug and I can turn on the house power from the fuse box. The gen is very portable with good quality wheels.

I just bought this generator and after setting up which was super simple and quick. I did the first run with no load. After that I did a load with just a small 32 inch LCD TV and a lamp. Then I added my deep freezer and refrigerator. The thing didn't even bat an eye and I was no where near close to the wattage of the unit. The next power outage I have I'm not gonna have a problem running everything to make my family comfortable.

Bought this as a back up for when my power is out and it happens all too often. Started right up and purring like a kitten. Has automatic choke and the large 50 amp receptacle gives me plenty of power to run what I need while my power is out. Lots of quality built into this machine and I like that its a US based company. Great job.

Recommended by my electrician, we bought this generator for backup house power. One fuel, relatively quiet (75db) and enough power to run our house and well pump. Comes with tools, oil and a charged battery. Just add premium non-ethanol gasoline and you are good to go!

Shipping was less than one week. Unboxed the generator, filled with oil, filled with gas, and hooked up the battery fired up with no issues whatsoever. Runs great I am very pleased. I will update my review as I use the generator. My serial number tag however it was obscured from shipping. It was scuffed and could not read the entire number.

We purchased this generator almost a month ago and couldn't be happier with our decision. Living in Eastern NC, we experience hurricanes yearly, and we get the occasional winter snowstorm. We live out in the country and anytime any such storm is forecasted, its practically a guarantee we will lose power. In the past, these power losses have been anywhere from a few hours to several days. I have a 26-year-old special needs daughter who spends the majority of her life on the internet. Of course, no power...no internet, It doesn't take long before everyone is in a fowl mood. Also, if the outage extends more than a few days we lose 2 chect-type freezers full of food and everything in the refrigerator. Added to all of this, I, myself was put on oxygen by my doctors in July. Its something I will have to deal with for the rest of my life. As you can read, taking all of these circumstances into account made selecting a generator a very important decision. We did our homework and researched several different models and brands. After much deliberation, we decided on the Westinghouse WGen 9500. It met all of our needs and then some, It's big enough for the square footage of our house, and having the option of using the remote is truly a blessing, I don't want to have to go out in a storm at my age to pull start it, at 70 years old, it's not safe. We haven't had it a month yet but have already put it to the test. We took almost a direct hit from tropical storm Ophelia last weekend. We lost power before the storm even made landfall. Within minutes we were back up and running. Nobody got fussy without the internet, we had no loss of food and I was able to continue on my oxygen. This generator is definitely a lifesaver. We do have plans to have it hard wired to the house when finances permit but even using it with cords, we couldn't be happier. I would like to receive the cover to protect it.
