New Model of MICHELIN® Defender is Not Reliable.

Before I used MICHELIN® Defender 2016 which provided excellent and accurate braking performance, but the new model MICHELIN® Defender 2018 is horrible. After purchasing my new car with MICHELIN® Defender made 2018, I drove on the highway in winter about the speed of 70km, The slippy situation on tires happened Out of Control, and brought me extremely danger. With luck I turned the handling wheel and fully stop on the other lane and my car was in opposite direction with 2~3 meters toward the side of the guard bar of Hwy. It brought me very terrible experience, would be the Last time of installing MICHELIN® tire. Not recommended.

Smooth Quiet Ride-in addition it's responsive

Better handling than the M+S... I had purchased the T+H and the installer put on the M+S, talked to the dealer after driving those and they changed to what I bought. The difference was night and day. These are much better tires than the M+S. Very responsive to steering inputs.

Used to be good, now...Not so long lasting (i'm retired

Im old retired guy driving sedately in my 2015 Kia Soul. My last set lasted wonderfully, however; this set lasted half that with the same retired driving style, perfect rotation and inflation, as this old guy does. I may expect +/- 5%, but this is waaay out of spec. It's like the French gave this load to the Americans to manufacture. We're moving on.

Great MPG, traction and wear

I have 80;780 miles on my current Defender tires. I replaced run flats Goodyear standard on my BMW 528xDrive for those that claim they're loud or didn't get the wear I'm not sure what to say. Very new they were a bit louder than the Goodyear. I check the tire pressure and noticed the installers over inflated each tire by 4 lbs After I set the correct pressure (listed on door jam) the noise lessened. First winter I drove into an ice storm freeway was sheet of ice cars sliding and hitting each other all around me my antilock brakes started aggressively pulsing I saw small opening hit the gas peddle and drove through the wrecked and wrecking cars. I get 3-5 MPG more than the original tires I still have tread after 80,000 miles of aggressive driving. These are the best tires I've ever owned. For all those 1-3 star reviewers correct tire pressure and rotate every 8-10,000 and you will find theses are phenomenal tires. I have installed 3 more sets over the past few years the only noisy installation was my nieces Kia and that was due to high mileage on a weak suspension. She learned to love the tire and after a few thousand miles the noise was much less. On another note I have hit sharp potholes at fast speeds with no loss of pressure there were 7 or more cars that had blown tires from this sharp pothole

loudest tires I have ever purchaced

I purchased set of 4 Defender T+H for my 2014 Subaru Forester in May 2018. The traction in snow was good this past winter. BUT, they are the Loudest tires I have ever used. I carpool with 3 other people and they all say they think the tires are very noisy. The noise is loud, then very loud as speed increases, especially when going over 35mph. They seem to be getting louder as I put more miles on the car. I only have 7000 miles on them. I hope the store that installed them will give me some credit towards installing new, quieter tires. I keep detailed mileage records. These Defender T&H tires are getting 7% worse mileage (comparing same month to same month) than the OEM Bridgestone tires that came when my Forester was new.

Great performance

This is my second set of Defenders on two different vehicles and I also own a set of X-Ice Snow used on a front wheel drive Japanese sedan. Michelin's renowned quality is far from overrated. The Defenders T+ H delivers an amazing stable smooth and silent ride. Didn't gave 5 stars because there are better Michelin products for handling heavy puddling rain conditions at high speed. Not a problem for a seasoned driver but I wouldn't let my old father exceed 60 mph in a rainstorm on crappy Quebec roads.

Quiet and smooth

I bought these yesterday in Salt Lake and they are great. On the way back home they much quieter than the Douglas extra tracks that I replaced. They also rolled much smoother, there was a little bit of vibration but I think it was from over inflation when they mounted them. I lowered the pressure from 42 psi., to 35 psi and took my truck for a drive and the vibration is gone . These are great tires and I would buy them again if still available, but Michelin does not show this size anymore in the Defender T+H, the other deciding factor is if my truck is still operable as it is 34 year's old.

Improvements in comfort, handling, safety and noise reduction

Instantly upgraded the complete driving experience on out Toyota Prius. Both comfort and handling improved while the road noise was reduced! Other reviews say they aren't the lightest of tires, so we did see a 1mpg reduction, but expect many miles of use out of them. We've tested them in rain, light snow and dry conditions and never felt unsafe.

What a difference !!!

Replaced the original tires on my 2013 Impala LT with Defender T+Hs. The car rides quieter and smoother at all speeds. Great on wet roads for handling and shorter distances for braking. Being H rated you can feel the firmness in cornering. Confidence !! Excellent choice for all these reasons.

Hands down, Michelin, the best tires at the best price

I bought four tires and had them installed on 11/23/2020. You may wonder, how can you rate them so high after just one day? Glad you asked, for the last 40 years or so, being in the transportation industry, driving passenger cars, luxury buses, tanker trucks (18 wheelers) etc… nothing compares to Michelin tires. They are the best. I have five passenger cars that have been driven 200k plus miles each. When I try other brands I'm always sorry. After you put 50k or 60k miles on a tire, that's when it's easy to feel the Michelin difference. They are just as smooth as when you first put them on. Of course you have people complaining about them being bumpy, however that is not the fault of the tire. Let me explain; when I installed new Michelins on the front wheel drive 2007 Chevy Impala, with 176k miles, it was very important to install new struts and shocks first. You may not know that it takes less than 5k miles to destroy a set of brand new tires (make them bumpy) installed on a vehicle with worn out struts and shocks. Along the same lines, make sure to do a wheel alignment. For best results, do the work in the following order: 1. New shocks 2. New Michelins 3. Wheel alignment Next, have you ever thought of why all these tire places want you to rotate the tires? Answer: to sell more tires. It is true (especially on front wheel drive cars) that, when rotated, the tires wear more even. What they will not tell you is this: yes, they wear more even, EVEN FASTER. I have driven Michelin Defenders mounted on the back of a front wheel drive car, for 92k miles, no rotating allowed. Yes, the front tires wore out in 52k miles due to a bad wheel alignment that had nothing to do with the tires. All I had to do was to buy two, not four, new tires for the front and fix the wheel alignment. At 52k miles, the tires on the back hardly looked used and they lasted another 40k miles. If I had them rotated, I would destroy all my tires evenly, even faster. If you are interested in an ultra-smooth ride and spending the least amount of money, buy Michelin tires and carefully read and follow the instructions above. david
