Excellent tires

I purchased my first set of Michelin Defenders for a full size van and I have to say these were the very best tires I've ever bought. After 5 seasons of summer use, there was still a lot of thread left. In my opinion, there is no other tire out there that lasts as long as these. This is an excellent product and I will never buy another brand of tire but Michelin.

Warranty is 80k miles

I bought these tires 3 years ago and had them rotated every 5k miles with my oil change. They are right at 50k and need to be replaced. Will see if Michelin stands behind their warranty of 80k miles. If not, one pays a premium price for an average product.

Great performance on Ford Escape

I have used these same tires on my 2009 Ford Escape and with regular rotation I got 89,000 + mile on the before I traded the ar. I have installed the new version T+H on my 2014 Escape and am looking forward to not ever having to change them! Great all weather performance on dry, wet and snowy roads. Quite quiet for a trie with a deeper then normal tread.

Like the tire but not the treadwear

For the past few years, I have been happy with my Defender T & H tires however after only 42,000 miles the remaining tread depth is now only 2/32". The wear pattern is even. The car has been balanced shortly after the tire purchase and again one year ago. Tires have been rotated with every other oil change. I drive on a combination of both local and highway roads. I now have to buy new tires and can't really justify getting Michelin tires again, even though I have liked the tires overall. This is disappointing for a tire with a 85,000 mile warranty

DON, we are sorry to read that your tires are in need of replacement. Fortunately, there is a mileage warranty on this tire. Your retailer should be able to apply credit toward a new set of tires according to the warranty. Please have them contact our team should there be a question or problem.

We’ve driven lots of miles on Defenders

Bought in Jan 2022 for Chrysler mini-van. Have driven 75,000 (mostly highway) miles on them. Happy with them. Drive smoothly and good in rain. Don’t know if I would say excellent in the rain, but definitely would give them a good. I think noise is average for this vehicle. Have had several versions of Michelin Defender tires on multiple mini-vans.

Great MPG, traction and wear

I have 80;780 miles on my current Defender tires. I replaced run flats Goodyear standard on my BMW 528xDrive for those that claim they’re loud or didn’t get the wear I’m not sure what to say. Very new they were a bit louder than the Goodyear. I check the tire pressure and noticed the installers over inflated each tire by 4 lbs After I set the correct pressure (listed on door jam) the noise lessened. First winter I drove into an ice storm freeway was sheet of ice cars sliding and hitting each other all around me my antilock brakes started aggressively pulsing I saw small opening hit the gas peddle and drove through the wrecked and wrecking cars. I get 3-5 MPG more than the original tires I still have tread after 80,000 miles of aggressive driving. These are the best tires I’ve ever owned. For all those 1-3 star reviewers correct tire pressure and rotate every 8-10,000 and you will find theses are phenomenal tires. I have installed 3 more sets over the past few years the only noisy installation was my nieces Kia and that was due to high mileage on a weak suspension. She learned to love the tire and after a few thousand miles the noise was much less. On another note I have hit sharp potholes at fast speeds with no loss of pressure there were 7 or more cars that had blown tires from this sharp pothole

Unbelievable Tires

Just put on second set of defenders. Over 75,000 miles on first set. Could have gone to 80,000 but cut to one tire made it unrepairable. Most smooth riding and quiet tires I have ever owned. Even with this mileage still provided excellent performance in all conditions, even wet roads. Overall excellent tires in ever category.

Two thumps up!

These new Defender H+T tires are great! I put 12,500 miles on them and it doesn't even look like any tread is worn. These are definitely going to last way longer than the 1st generation Defenders. The noise level is minimal and the handling is reassuring at higher speeds. I do believe that these tires will fill my expectations!

Good for city, very poor for highway!

Had these tires for 10 months and they cannot hold the road at highway speeds. This is very noticeable on curves when driving over 80 km/h and also when braking at high speeds! There could be technical or design reasons but I think this is a lower quality tire than the previous two sets of Michelin tires I used. I ended up with the Defender T+H because the Michelin Pilot MXM4 was retired and the Defender supposedly replaced it. Sadly, it didn't measure up.

Quiet, Ride Well, but Tread Depth Lost Quickly

I bought four for my 1997 Toyota Camry four years ago. After 22,000 miles. tire shop told me the interior walls were disintegrating, exposing steel cords, and would not let me drive away with the tire because of liability fears if tire collapsed/exploded. Also, tread was down to 4/32 (should be 7/32 to 9/32 after 22,000 miles), and inner and outer surfaces of tire were without tread. Both front tires were in this state. Not what I expected with a 90,000 -miles-warranty tire. Always keep tires inflated 32-35 psi. Tire shop thought these results were due to manufacturing defect. I see tires were made in Mexico. Purchased them in July 2016. Warranty offer was for 49% coverage, but Defender is no longer available in 14" diameter, so only warranty option was an inferior Uni-Royal tire, a company owned by Michelin. Pretty disappointing. Looking for non-Michelin alternatives for two front tires, maybe General Altimax RT 43, recommended by Consumer Reports.
