I use it several hours after my weight-lifting class to ease pain before any stiffness sets in following my workout regime. It relaxes my muscles and cools the aches. I apply this gel again about an hour before my weight-lifting fitness class to relax any stiff or sore muscles, which readies my body to take on the next weight-lifting challenge. This prep helps to prevent injury and also maximizes my ability to continue to build muscle strength, fitness and endurance, which is especially important as I am middle-aged plus. Eliminating or greatly reducing pain, which Biofreeze use accomplishes, also allows me to maintain a strong form while lifting, which is really important to prevent injury. The menthol aroma is calming and soothing, and supports taking deep, full breaths, which is also imperative (according to our certified trainer) to delivering maximum oxygen to muscles during intense exercise undertaken for fitness and endurance. When applying to the affected area(which was my posterior neck area)I didn’t have to touch the product at all, and that was so convenient. I really like that I can throw this in my purse to use on the go. I get the worst neck aches ever! I don’t know what causes them, however I will say, I know this pain relief did exactly what it was supposed to do. After work a few nights ago my neck started aching, so I tried this roll on pain relief. As soon as I applied the topical, I had almost instant relief from the pain. It had a cooling effect, but it wasn’t too cold. It was just enough to give me relief from the ache/pain. It lasted for at least 3 hours. This will be going in my purse for good!

It contains menthol which I was concerned would have a strong scent but the scent vanishes quickly so not an issue. Pain relief was quick and ling lasting too.
