Really happy this comes with 8 steak knives! we use thoise all the time. The self sharpening is what really grabbed my attention, its so easy and you don't have to worry if the knives are ready to go or not. this is one of the few sets out there that still includes carving knives, both an 8" and a 6". The carvers were the knife that my dad first taught me to cut with so for lots of things they are my go tos. The scissors are awesome, and cut better than any of my other scissors , also having 2 paring knives is helpful, both e 3" and 4" get lots ofuse too.

I will still probably use a separate sharpener from time to time to keep a quality edge on them. The block is massive. A lot larger than I expected. Overall, I am very happy with this set

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been asking for a knife set for many years. Every set I've ever had has either been a worn out hand-me-down or a mix and match. I opened this set up last night and was flabbergasted by the quality craftsmanship. Each blade, despite feeling very light, is brilliantly assembled and unbelievably sharp and sliced through a multitude of vegetables and meats as I prepared dinner. I did not want to have to perpetually sharpen my blades and so I opted for the self-sharpening block that sharpens as you remove and replace in its slot. The look and feel of the block is just another glaring example of the attention to detail. The wood is extremely solid and so there is no tipping this over without really trying, the stainless steel top will resist the rust from the moisture in the kitchen, and each slot is labeled, so EVERYBODY knows where to put blades back where they go. I am so happy I spent the extra money to get the J.A. Henckles set.

But, with this set we finally have a knife for every need and they all come from a MATCHING set. The blades are all exceptionally sharp and the self-sharpening block helps maintaining these knives significantly easier.

The only thing I don't like as much is their placement in the block. What I mean is the knives seem to get in each other's way when pulling them or putting them back in. Other than that it's a great set!

The self sharpening feature within each (non serrated) knife slot makes such an immense difference compared to my old knife set. I’ve never owned a Henckels knife set before but I am certain if this isn’t the last block I buy I’m going to buy another one from these folks! The knives are made of stainless steel and have a razor sharp edge that can even give you a shave and thanks to the sharpeners built into the block it should stay like that for me. I highly recommend this knife set to anyone looking for a new one or even for a quality upgrade that will last!
