I had a whamodyne fancy sucky bag machine that had bells whistles and flashing lights. You know if it has all that stuff it has to be better. It lasted about 3 years and quit sealing properly. So I bought this simple sucky bag machine. Not disappointed at all. About half the cost of a fancy one but does the job and fits in a drawer with all the bags and accessories. You won’t be disappointed.

After purchasing another product which did not work well, I'm glad I came back to FOODSAVER.

Purchased as a Christmas gift for a busy household and the size was appreciated as it will fit into a kitchen drawer and be readily available.

This VS1260 has a small footprint. I can store it on its back in the cupboard that holds the crockpot with no issues. I'm still learning how to cut bags evenly and with enough headspace. It would be nice if the attachments could be stored "inside" the device, like some of the other models, but I bought the "great sale" unit, and I am pleased. I haven't used it often, but it is user friendly.

To fix sealers with a sponge gasket that dry out in time take a damp cloth or sponge and run it over sponge to expand it.... sponge shrinks in time. have used mine for over 10 yrs. with the same sponge

Just tried this today. It is awkward trying to keep the e sealing edge of the bag flat while you pull the lid down. If you are arthritis like me, it is hard to press down on the two edges to lock it. I liked my previous food saver with an easy locking mechanism, easy to follow instructions in the lid and an easy load edge of the bag. Once I figured out that the bag edge could not be over the drip channel, I was finally able to get it to vacuum and seal. I didn't think it was much less bulky that my old unit. I haven't had it long enough to assess how well it preserves food. Would definitely prefer my old food saver. Sadly, it “died”.

Upon using the device, suction will not hold unless leaned upon with full weight. Is there any chance for replacement? Unit does not work as is.

This vacuum sealer is junk. It struggles to turn on. When it does turn on it doesn’t vacuum all the air out. Then seals the bag with lots of air inside. I then have to wait 10-15 minutes for it to vacuum again. This is only my second time using now it’s headed for the trash.

I bought this for the "space saving" feature but its not worth it, neither are the bags. First off, sometimes while in vac/seal, it continues to run the vacuum and never seals. I have had to lean on it, I hear the tone change and then it usually goes to seal but not always. Now, 9/10 times I plug it in and all the lights come on but won't let me select any of the 3 options. This occurs whether its the first time using it that day or after a few bags. It takes me a few minutes between each bag so it should have time to cool off. I found that if I unplug it, hit each button twice and then let it sit, it will reset itself. I found this on a troubleshooting site that said "hit the cancel" button which I don't have. And finally, the bags. I am using actual FoodSaver bags and most of what I seal is dehydrated. I might expect some of the more prickly items to puncture the bag but 1/4 bags lose their vacuum seal quickly. This is becoming costly both in bags lost and food lost. Thankfully most of my trips are shorter and I store the dried food in the freezer so not much time for spoilage.

I have had multiple FoodSaver vacuum sealers and each one lasted several years. But not this. It failed within one year and two weeks.
