TurboTax Business is a junky 3rd-class citizen

The state prep is horrible. You have to go to the forms and do your own arithmetic. It can't help at all with any of the computations for income annualization, such as adding and multiplying columns. Furthermore, if you say you want estimated payments to cover the amount of your current year's taxes, it doesn't include capital gains and the following year you will owe penalties! I owed state penalties this year and noticed it was about to do the same thing for next year. On a positive note, it is the only software I know of that can do trust taxes which are quite simple compared to the price of the software.

Get your states returns act together

CT-PET functionality does not exist. We paid for turbo tax, but couldn't file with turbo tax. We have to do it via the state portal. Boo Turbo Tax.... If you can't provide the functionality for a state, tell people before they purchase. Where is my credit?

TurboTax Business - Desktop 2024

Disappointing The software would not import from my version of Quickbooks - Quickbooks Pro 2022 The software would not allow an efile due to some undiscoverable or uncorrectable (1) error (possibly an amount which the software at some point inserted into the return and would be overidden) An override of this same error worked in past versions

Still good, but help function non-existent!

Love the product in and of itself. Have been using for years. Some areas are more clear and easier to follow for the non-accountant than in the past, but some still are not. One thing that has gotten SO MUCH WORSE is the Help function (or lack thereof)! Years ago, I could actually get answers to the questions inside the program that made sense. Now, the AI knows NOTHING and can't even answer the most basic questions. Always have to go to the internet to search and I might as well just Google it myself to get an answer - which I do. Good luck asking to find a section of the program to get to a certain area - i.e., vehicle expense. Used to have a jump to function in Help - now: You're on your own searching through the entire program!

not so good for 2024

I have happily used TurboTax for about 15 years. Unfortunately, this tax year (2024) the software is very "buggy". I have had to reboot my laptop several times while using it for 2024. Also some of the step-by-step screens did not allow numbers to be input (had to go directly to forms as a work-around)

Intuit isn't awesome ... anymore.

I'm a long time Intuit customer having used both QuickBooks Desktop and TurboTax for the past 20+ years. That said, I would gladly kick your newest products to the curb. Why would you require QB Desktop users to transition to QB Online when you can't yet import Intuit's QB Online files into Intuit's TurboTax Business. Talk about silos. Get this fixed. While you are fixing things do you know your payment site won't take credit cards with a 2025 expiration date.

Poor performance on state returns

I'd give it a better review but they don't ask some basic questions for some tax credits and it makes you have to drop to forms. However, the biggest complaint is they make you pay for your state but then for Iowa when you get to the end they say they can't file electronic and you have to do a bunch of work to get a refund. It should be automatic or not have you pay until they know if they can or not.

Needs work

First, there needs to be a Mac version of this software, just like there is for all other Turbtax products. Second, this software is needlessly complicated and uninformative for someone who has a vacation home held in a trust, with nothing but rental income and associated expenses. There should be an "express" simplified version for common trusts. Finally, many times on review the software will say that an entry is needed at a certain place, but it is not clear what information is being requested, and the software provides literally zero help in puzzling that out.

Bugs everywhere

Glitchy as heck. Every year they find a new way to make your life more difficult. Sometimes the program doesn't even load, sometimes it forces me to fill out forms that aren't even relevant to me (and filling out those forms would mean lying to the IRS so you have to get comfortable switching between "Forms" and "Step-By-Step"), and it makes me re-answer questions when I go back to review, some entries (namely Inventory) won't save, and my access code didn't even work, and their contact info only knows how to send me to a tax professional instead of tech support. I really want to like Turbotax because the explanations are good for beginners (but could be better honestly) but the glitches are too frustrating to make it worth half the cost.

TurboTax messes up a simple partnership return.

These comments are about a simple partnership return. 1. I entered all the data in the "step-by-step" system. The "federal review" step in that system did not show any errors. But, when I printed the return and reviewed it myself, I saw that end-of-year Line 21 of Schedule L, Partners' Capital Accounts, differed from Line 9 of Schedule M-2, by more than $1,600, even though those amounts should be equal (as they were at the beginning of the year). The program's federal review step should have highlighted that error. I shouldn't have had to find it myself. 2. Entries other than "Yes" or "No" are required in Schedule B, Questions 17, 18, and 26. The step-by-step input should have allowed, but didn't allow, any of those entries. 3. The program should provide for electronic filing of the Colorado partnership return and K-1s.
