Improving S-corp Intuit software

Intuit needs to do a better job of explaining ACCOUNTING TERMS and the SPECIFICS of filing IRS tax forms accurately to the customer. I am a physician......I don't tell a patient "you have had a myocardial infarction"....I say, "you have had a heart attack". What I am suggesting is NOT ROCKET SCIENCE. Take 100 people with small businesses with NO ACCOUNTING EDUCATION and have them use a "beta version" of the upcoming year's S-Corp tax program. Then have them tell you what they didn't understand and ALSO have a CPA review their business records to see where they improperly filled out forms based on your beta version instructions. This should produce a vastly improved version of your software.

Turbo and Intuit have lost their way

Product not integrated with QB Online, which Intuit forced me to get since they no longer offer QB desktop. I could not import accounting records from QB online, so had to input accounting informations manually. Terrible!!! Integration between Turbo Tax and Quickbooks was a given and made their products user friendly. No they are the opposite. Their support is also terrible. Looking for alternatives.

Turbox Business has errors that block e-filing

-- I opened a ticket in February for bug in TT Business for North Carolina which causes an error during review. When generating filing documents, a dialog box pops up stating you have error(s). This blocks e-filing my return. This ticket is over 6 weeks old without any feedback from TT. -- NO RELEASE NOTES ARE AVAILABLE FOR CONSUMER VERSIONS. the Account/CPA versions have release notes. -- The colors for fields in Forms Mode are not carried over to Interview mode. This is a very simple change but Intuit does not seem to care about it's customers

Got the job done, but has room for improvement

The product should have a mechanism to change an estate fiduciary title to either "executor" or "administrator". The software auto-elects "executor" and does not allow the user to change it. Also on the 1041 Schedule G Line 14, the software doesn't prompt the user to check the box indicating withholding comes from a form 1099. The user must manually check the box themself in the "forms" section. It also then does not provide a mechanism to attach said form 1099 to the return which is required for proper filing. The software walkthrough should ask this question and if answered yes should then check the box and require the user to upload the form 1099.

Product is great. Marketing sucks.

When I look on the Web for Turbotax package features, it does not ever include TurboTax Business. Since we have a rental property and need to create K1's, we can not do this with Home and Business (which we had already purchased!!!). This was extremely frustrating. We have done our 1065's and K1's manually in the past, since we thought this was the only way to do them with TT.

mah

Seems okay but the printed copy to be filed with the IRS is set to about 75% of normal size. I doubt the IRS would find this to be acceptable so I am transposing the return's information by hand onto normal sized forms. I tried printing the returns at least twice with no changes. I don't want to spend hours trying to figure out how to make the print the correct size. Also, no state return is a disappointment. All in all, a bit disappointing and time consuming.

2024 California Form 541 Line 11 has a glitch

I am overall pleased with the Federal software. However, there seems to be a bug this year in the California software relating to Line 11 of Form 541, where the data was not pulled over from the 1041 and could not be entered manually. This was identified by people in the TT Community Users Group in early February, but was still a problem at the end of March.

Turbo Tax Business Needs Work

I rated this product 3 stars because the Quickbooks integration did not work and, therefore, I had to type everything manually. Additionally, there were several places I had to manually override cells in the State returns as the step-by-step guide did not provide the appropriate result. Finally, there no Mac OS version of this software.

Best option out there, but isn't flawless

Overall good, but there is a bug with the 179 depreciation rule. If you select 179 and take full depreciation in current year, that amount is not included in the depreciation total. If I do not use the 179, and depreciate using different period, the depreciative total does reflect properly. In both cases, I have plenty of net QBI to cover the depreciation. Online, that seems to be the standard response when it does not reflect in the total, that your depreciation cannot exceed the current year QBI, but that was not the case. The final checks are finding issues that the user didn't introduce, the software should have handled it, but didn't for some reason. The checks are often cryptic and do not give great explanations.

I waisted my money on TurboTax Business

Multiple issues with TurboTax Business: 1) It cost more that other produce yet it will not download brokerage or bank information like the other products. I have a simple trust account and was required to use this version. (brokerage accounts is my only input) 2) Product has bug in it that I was unable to resolve after 2 hours of IT help. if 1099 DIV has value in box 5 a 199A DIV. The software dose not handle correctly and forced me to print and mail in forms. What a waist.
