I was able to get the return filed in less than a day. However, the product is very jargon-heavy for someone who is using it for filing a return for an estate, and it asks a lot of irrelevant questions because it assumes the estate is a business when it is not. Like asking if I want to set up K-1 forms. I don't even know what those are. I also ended up having to ignore all the stuff about having an NOL (true) and "carryback" (impossible since there are no previous tax years). The instructions for this were either nonexistent or led to a dead end. If I figure out how to ask for a carry forward, I'll have to submit an amended return.

I have been using Turbo Taxes for more than two decades and so far this year has been the worst experience I have ever had. I am not sure if it is because Turbo Tax changed to download only (I used to purchase CD) and the download and transmittal of returns had absolutely no issues at all. This year there had been numerous error messages and I needed to diagnose the problems myself or I would not be able to continue.

I've used TurboTax (and TurboTax Business) for many years. It's generally pretty good about guiding me through and helping to check everything. One area that has always needed improvement is the state filing. There seems to be very little guidance to the state component -- just "make any adjustments if you need to". I'd really like help figuring out "if I need to".

Unable to get the program to put gains and losses in the proper box on 8949. I input that basis was reported but 8949 shows basis not reported, and no way to override. Very frustrating. I hope Intuit reads this and fixes the problem for others. Otherwise, the program worked well and the e-filing was easy.

Although this is the product for trusts, the step-by-step instructions do not direct user to all required forms. The product offers little advantage to downloading form from IRS and completing by hand. Very disappointed as I have used TurboTax Premier for individual taxes and have found it complete and intuitive.

I am a tax attorney working for a big 5 accounting firm, and this software really needs a lot of work. It needed work last year and needs more work this year. I am filing a trust as an estate under Sec. 645 and it is prompting me to make estimated tax payments to the Commonwealth of Virginia. It still doesn't prompt for a 645 election. One really has to know what he or she is doing to use this software

Very intuitive and easy to follow along. The software asks timely questions and explains technical terms as needed, which I found very helpful and re-assuring. I highly recommend TurboTax to anyone looking to file their taxes. I'll use it again next year.

You often cannot file electronically because of silly reasons. For instance, it says overpayment applied to next year's return is too large even though it is the same amount as the refund. No workaround is available even though many users are having this problem.

When I look on the Web for Turbotax package features, it does not ever include TurboTax Business. Since we have a rental property and need to create K1's, we can not do this with Home and Business (which we had already purchased!!!). This was extremely frustrating. We have done our 1065's and K1's manually in the past, since we thought this was the only way to do them with TT.

Used Turbotax for Business to file an estate return and generate K-1s. Software created summary information for stock sales, but never gave me the ability to upload a copy of the 1099-B details. Also created a footnote on the K-1 regarding Section 199A revenue, but didn't give me the opportunity to supply the required statement indicated on the form. Clearly missing some needed functionality.
