E-filing in California does NOT work. There is an extensive thread (https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/taxes/discussion/turbotax-business-validation-error-code-54-so-we-cannot-efile/00/3748119) on your own website documenting the problem that I and many others experienced. I ended up printing and physically mailing my state return because the problem was never resolved. I'm very disappointed with TurboTax for Business, considering how much it costs.

TurboTax does a terrible job dealing with an LLC return. What should be a simple return where farm land is rented for a cash rent and there are virtually no expense. The program ask the wrong questions. The AI help menu returns irrllevant information.

TurboTax created a michigan fudicary information worksheet that does not work. Requires a PIN that I do not have. Has no instruction on why this form is needed or even what is missing and preventing the completion of the form to allow efile to proceed. There is no help available for this. Finally just printed both federal and state and will mail in. If that's a problem, TurboTax can deal with it as your failure prevented the efile of the trust taxes.

I was able to prepare and electronically file the federal tax return for my family trust. There appeared to have been a change from last year in the ability to directly access the TurboTax install file and data file from an attached drive. These files appeared to need to be stored locally while being accessed. The handling of operational losses from prior years wasn't super clear, but TurboTax appeared to automatically keep track of these amounts across prior years.

Turbo tax has a known software issue with a foreign beneficiary but that could also be an IRS problem so I had to mail the tax return. It would not generate a K-1 for the foreign beneficiary. I was filing a final return for the trust and had expenses greater than the income. These expenses could be passed down to the beneficiaries under IRC 67(e) but I had to find that out myself. I know it is also DIY but these different topics can be added to the software.

Overall, experience was very good. Have used TT Business for 5 years or so to prepare Trust return. Easy to use, comprehensive, definitely a time-saver. Once again had difficulty (intially) e-filing due to "Failed Validation - Error Code 54", saying I did not have latest version of software, even when I did. Got sorted out in software update released yesterday. Will certainly use again next year.

This was my final return for an LLP that had been using TurboTax for the past 25 years. We have retired the business and one of the partners is continuing as a sole proprietor. Neither partner bought the other out. The furnishings, computers, software, supplies had little to no value and TurboTax did not allow us to revisit our evaluation of the parts and change them to make sense to us and h IRS. On return review, there were errors that could not be repaired because I could not change the data. NOT GOOD for a novice closing a business.

I had to create a bogus line item after hours of working with both the balance sheet and the income statement forms for the program because the math embedded in the program was incorrect. Then I had to pay another $55 for the state return when EVERY business is in a state. Another opportunity for Intuit to take advantage of a small business. Truly I would not recommend or use the product if I had more time.

Turbotax has been great for us for many years. It allows you to work through and better understand the forms and how they work. It helps to ensure accuracy, and allows you to easily port year over year information. You can upload directly from QuickBooks as well.
