Pretty cool little addition

We got this so our daughter can play one device and another person can play another. It is really cool and interesting to handle. We like the mobile aspect. We dont take it far from the ps5, and it is still a little laggy. despite our high-speed internet, we still get some slow down on it. Im sure that's normal as it is a portable connecting to the system. We dont play any hardcore games on the portable anyway. All the ones are laid back so the lag doesn't matter too much. Overalll the graphics are really nice, and we enjoy the screen and handling. It's a little heavier than we thought, but if you keep it downwards, it's easier to hold. We appreciate this system add on and hope to get some good play time out of it!

YES AND NO

I like it because I thought I can play my own games on it but then I realized that's not what it was for what I didn't like about it it's when my daughter told me I can just buy a controller and stream the game for my tablet so I did not need it and that's what I'm doing now

Get clear gameplay with Good WiFi but if your on a hotspot you’ll get like 720p and basically look like your playing on ps3. This is good for taking to work and gaming on lunch. It has a pretty simple setup, nothing like the PSP. Only thing I dislike about it is the middle spacebar, you have to double-tap the screen, instead of just pressing once on a regular ps5 controller. Battery life is decent, last for a couple days

Best investment ever my wife thoroughly enjoys playing it and the most uplifting part is that you can take it with you wherever you go as long as you have a Wi-Fi or hotspot connection you can indulge in any game that brings you joy the only thing you need to purchase is PlayStation plus overall my wife derives immense pleasure from it

I love my Portal ❤️‍🔥

The portal has not been given a fair shake IMO the screen is gorgeous and I find myself playing with it right in front of my console (instead of my console) because I enjoy it so much. It has an awesome feel to it in your hands, I wish it had a better battery life and of course I wish I could play it anywhere anytime, (I haven’t even tried to play it outside the house yet but many reviews say it requires a strong WiFi connection) but tbh for $200 it’s money well spent, even just playing with it in my house and inspite of its shortcomings.

Great handheld accessory if you already own a PS5

Most comfortable handheld I've owned. Battery life is a bit low but it's in-line with the standard PS5 controllers. Your upload speed that is connected to your PS5 is the most important thing to consider before purchase. If you have 15mbp/s UPLOAD it runs great. Most people will have plenty of download speed. While your PS5 is connected to the internet, run the internet speed test from your settings menu within the PS5 operating system. If you're at 15mbp/s you're good to go. This is a cheaper alternative to the Steamdeck. If you've already bought into the Sony ecosystem it's a great purchase. The screen is beautiful. No, it isn't OLED but honestly it's one of the nicest handheld screens I've seen. It's also 60hz but the majority of PS5 games barely hit 60fps anyway so it wouldn't really benefit from a higher frequency screen. Again, it's very comfortable. I actually prefer the ergonomics of the portal to my nintendo switch.

Bought one for me and my son, he loves the cloud streaming beta option and it allows me to be on remote play with the same account. Does what I need it to do, currently camping out in the hospital and it’s working great on this hospital WiFi, no connection issues, able to be heard and hear clearly in chat. Great for on the go trips.. only issue is its connection to the hotspot is iffy, but with WiFi there’s been no issues.

This thing is underrated

The Portal is fun to have. It does lag if you are on slow internet* and if you are downloading something on your console*. If you have good internet and you're at home, your wifi will be enough. You can sit back and watch a movie in the baground and Play your portal at the same time.

Not perfect

In short, remote play itself isn't perfect. Your only reason to get this is if you're a hardcore PS fan or you want the full ps5 controller feel. The major problem that gets in the device's way is "LAG" if you play games that don't require precise aiming or movement then you'll experience will be fine. I tested the device with Resident Evil 2 remake and I missed many shots due to the input lag the device has(keep in mind I had great Internet with 800 download and 28 upload). Anything aside from this the device would be perfect for remote playing. If you've played remote okay on a pc, laptop, iPhone or Android, you already have pretty much an idea on how much input lag you may experience (PS Portal will not eliminate any issues you experienced with a backbone for example). Overall, great device consept, just not for everyone.

Makes a great portable PS5 for gamers on the go

It's a great on the go PS5 with the PS remote play. However to note: You will need a strong Wifi signal and disappointing you can't use the Media app section due to copyright issues. It's excellent for gaming, it has the feel of a PS5 controller with a beautiful HD screen. The sound is great considering it's size. I recommend thumb grips for they are smaller than the regular PS5 sticks. The battery hokds up well for a few hours play, You can save on the battery by cutting off the side lights in the settings as an option. Overall, it's a awesome addition to rhe PS5. Highly recommended!
