I was always skeptical of having to connect a PlayStation portal to my PlayStation at my home just to be able to have screen mirroring and control what’s happening on my PlayStation with the PlayStation portal. However, since Sony came out with the game, changing update a handful of months or so maybe a little longer back you no longer have to be in range of your PlayStation and Wi-Fi at home. You can play it your portable pretty much anywhere you could possibly imagine. As long as your game is downloaded on your PlayStation at home you can play the same game on the portal out in the world, not connected to any Internet at all unless you would like to hook your portal up to the hotspot on your phone if you have one but it is not required

So i bought this without owning a ps5. prior to the amazing new update, you had to have the ps5 in order to use the portal. But it is amazing as a stand alone device. i paid for a year of sonys top tier playstation service and got a ton of games from old classics to recent ps5 titles all on a 7 inch screen displaying 1080p!!!! i know the price went up, but if you want a ps5 or older experience without the actual systems, this is the way to go. but remember you have to buy the service to stream all the titles. but if you own a ps5 you can stream your own games without charge!!!!!

I absolutely love my portal! I can finally see all the little things in the sims4 so I can fully decorate everything. So cool! Even my Xbox friends want one. Would make an awesome gift for a PlayStation player. It’s affordable and super easy to set up.

I'm so glad i bought mine when i did (a few days ago). the price has already jumped $50 since then. Even at the new price point, its absolutely worth it imo. i have really good internet, and theres almost no lag when streaming PS5 titles. Im an Xbro (XboX), but wanted to play Spiderman. i wasnt willing to shell out $900 to do so either. Now i can play Spiderman all i want, its awesome!

My husband and I share this to each play games. I wish we could just have 2 accounts on it. Signing in and out all the time is a pain. There are some occasional delays with remote playing but dependi g on the game it is tolerable.

The PlayStation Portal worked pretty good overall, just wasn’t exactly what I expected at first. It’s not a standalone gaming system, so you do need a PS5 at home with good WiFi for it to really work right. When the internet is strong it actually plays pretty smooth and looks good. But if your internet isn’t great, it can get laggy and the frames drop sometimes. Still a cool device though if you already got solid internet and a PS5 setup.

Only reason I’m giving this is two stars is occasionally it will connect to my PlayStation 5. It’s okay if you just want to play cloud games that’s generally not an issue but my god does it completely suck at remote connection to my console…. It even fails more than it connects while on my home WiFi that the console is on. Almost impossible to get it to work away from the house. Not to mention the bugs it still has from years ago while looking for solutions on the internet one being if it goes idle while charging it will just stop charging and need hard reset to get it back on. All in all I wouldn’t recommend this thing as is to anyone unless you are only interested in the cloud library of games then by all means if you can overlook the many problems it’s not a bad buy. You could also just use the streaming app with a controller and save 250 USD though.

To be honest I was so excited this was a gift for my husband I bought it brand new not open box not refurbished, but the portable we had was glitching and it kept unpairing from the ps5, that was really annoying and very disappointing. So, I send it back.

Can’t take it anywhere because it won’t work away from console, it’s supposed to be portable and that was the point of buying it, poor view quality. It was a gift for my gamer daughter and she hasn’t been able to use it because of this issues. She was excited when she received it but then disappointed because she couldn’t use it. Waste of money.

This product is pointless. Don’t get me wrong it works great but what’s the point of a small screen when you can watch it on tv at the same time. I was thinking my son could take it on the go. It doesn’t work without the ps5. So it just sits on my son’s dresser since Christmas.
