Best mainstream handheld!!!!!

So i bought this without owning a ps5. prior to the amazing new update, you had to have the ps5 in order to use the portal. But it is amazing as a stand alone device. i paid for a year of sonys top tier playstation service and got a ton of games from old classics to recent ps5 titles all on a 7 inch screen displaying 1080p!!!! i know the price went up, but if you want a ps5 or older experience without the actual systems, this is the way to go. but remember you have to buy the service to stream all the titles. but if you own a ps5 you can stream your own games without charge!!!!!

Not portable like advertised

Can’t take it anywhere because it won’t work away from console, it’s supposed to be portable and that was the point of buying it, poor view quality. It was a gift for my gamer daughter and she hasn’t been able to use it because of this issues. She was excited when she received it but then disappointed because she couldn’t use it. Waste of money.

Not great.

Only reason I’m giving this is two stars is occasionally it will connect to my PlayStation 5. It’s okay if you just want to play cloud games that’s generally not an issue but my god does it completely suck at remote connection to my console…. It even fails more than it connects while on my home WiFi that the console is on. Almost impossible to get it to work away from the house. Not to mention the bugs it still has from years ago while looking for solutions on the internet one being if it goes idle while charging it will just stop charging and need hard reset to get it back on. All in all I wouldn’t recommend this thing as is to anyone unless you are only interested in the cloud library of games then by all means if you can overlook the many problems it’s not a bad buy. You could also just use the streaming app with a controller and save 250 USD though.

know the limitations

As a portable unit that literaly teathers from the game tower itself, it's a great investment for all the micro gaming Playstation offers more than plenty of -and- allows the play of more recent 4k titles of similar game styles. (-NOT- a 'portable' unit for travel use!)

Faulty Product

Will be returning. The portal would not advance past the log-in stage. No QR Code to scan and would not accept log in credentials. I have not found a way to correct this issue. Hoping this was just a bad egg and that a return and replace will result in one that works.

Easy setup and great portability

It’s a great portable streaming device. Easy to pair up to ps5. The graphics are nice, but only as nice as your Internet connection. Bad internet connection = bad graphics and terrible lag. This can be used while away from home, but note that this isn’t a separate ps5, it only streams what is already on your ps5. So if your connection is bad on either end, it can cause issues. Or if you have a power outage where main console is, you may come across issues of reconnection. Someone in the room with your ps5 can also watch you play on the big screen if the tv is on—sound included. Was pretty funny watching my spouse play and he didn’t know I could hear and see his gameplay. Has an aux where you can use headphones. Also can use wireless ones. C-cable charging port. Volume level is decent, good enough for me to hear. The controls are simple and easy to use. The interface is easy and can access Home Screen easily. The touchpad is a little tricky, but I got it after a few guesses (double tap right and left on screen). Touch pad works well. The screen is very slim and I’d keep away from young ones who can’t handle this yet as it can break very easily if dropped. No case comes with it, so I’d also highly suggest buying a case for it to rest in. Charge is great. This was keeping me occupied for 4 hours and didn’t even have the charge warning yet, but was pretty close to 1 bar. So it does have a decent battery life. Love it and works well for me especially if I want to play games near my spouse or if I’m away from home.

I got this as a Christmas gift and he loves it. You can play on it and have it connected to your PlayStation so whatever you're doing on it also shows on your PlayStation or you can just play on it without your PlayStation on the graphics just aren't as good. The connection goes pretty far. We were in another town and he was playing on it connected to his PlayStation I love it. It’s also a lot bigger than I thought it was going to be.

Enjoy it but is it worth it? you decide.

Price point is a bit high seeing as its not a standalone counsel. was quite pleased about a month after purchasing they updated it so you could cloud stream games directly without remote play but only if you are a Playstation plus premium member. otherwise you have to remote play through your ps5 counsel. so really if you want to use it as a standalone you have to pay the 200 for the handheld and then 160 a year for premium. pretty subjective if its worth it or not to you.

My son got the PlayStation Portable Remote for Christmas, and he absolutely loves it. It’s easy for him to use, comfortable to hold, and works smoothly with his PlayStation. He enjoys being able to play his games without always needing the TV, which is a big plus in our house. The screen quality is clear, the controls are responsive, and it keeps him entertained for hours. Overall, it was a great Christmas gift and definitely worth it. I’m very happy with this purchase and would recommend it to other parents looking for a fun gaming option for their kids.

the portal is very laggy even on high speed internet it lags. also they need to make it as a true travel piece. if your ps5 is not turned on you can not use it. you should be able to take it with you when you travel as long as you're logged into your account you should be able to access games. a good start but if you want to rival Nintendo and the switch i suggest ypu make some improvents to make this a truly mobile gaming system
